STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI's John Boyega Still Isn't Interested In Playing Blade But Has Met With Marvel Studios

Pacific Rim Uprising star John Boyega still isn't interested in rebooting Blade for Marvel Studios but the actor has now revealed that he's taken meetings with them. Hit the jump for details...

John Boyega made a rare convention appearance at Awesome Con in Washington, D.C. yesterday afternoon and the actor addressed a number of topics, including those recent conversations about Blade. While the actor has never been officially - or unofficially - linked to the role, there has been a lot of talk about him taking over from Wesley Snipes as that character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He has, of course, already made it clear he's not interested and reiterated that when a fan dressed as the vampire hunter asked if he'd like to take on the role. Noting that doing so would be a "spit in the face of Wesley [Snipes] if I took Blade," the Star Wars: The Last Jedi actor made it clear he'd like to see Snipes reprise the role (which is extremely unlikely given his age and the current state of his career).

However, Bounding Into Comics reveals that Boyega went on to say that he's actually had meetings with Marvel Studios about potentially playing a Marvel superhero but that it would a long way down the line - presumably well after Episode IX in order to separate him from the role of Finn in that iconic franchise - and most likely won't happen in the near future. So, who could he end up playing?

We'll leave you to discuss that in the comments section below and be sure to stay tuned for updates.

I didn't buy him as blade until I saw that one fan manip... he could definitely look the part but I have a hard time picturing him acting the part. He doesn't ooze badass like Wesley Snipes... not that anyone does really to be fair. But I think MCU going with a true Brit Blade would go a long way towards differentiating itself from previous movies.

@Zer0squad - And he’s too young for the part.

Omg Let it go the mans 55! EVENTUALLY someone else will step in and it'll be great for their careers (so maybe they go with a lesser known actor). What he did was cool but Only in 1 movie. 2 was ok and 3 isnt even talked about. Also he wasn't British like Blade is originally. Move on from Snipes.

Boyega in the MCU would be neat, so yeah i'd be totally thrilled if that happens, he's a great actor.

A bit Off Topic: Just came back from watching Pacific Rim 2, i had a ton of fun with that movie tho i have my issues with it, but it didn't pull me away from the experience. I felt like i was watching 5 episodes of some Mecha/Anime in a row, the action was awesome and i love how F****KING MECHA the movie is, yes DelToro's touch it's a missed but then again i still felt his presence troughout, the final fight brought me some great memories from the old japanese Godzilla movies and a lot Mazinger Z,Gundam and Evangelion mixed with Power Rangers jaja. The locations they chose were great, it felt good to see a mecha battle in the middle of a snowing frozen abandoned location and then moving forward to Japan and MT.Fuji, just like in the first one they had one underwater and in China i like that a lot. I had my issues with the movie, like:

SPOILERS death.
SPOILERS twist tho i expected it but i still didn't like it as much jaja.
Jules was USELESS and nothing more than a love interest and a nice booty(sweet to the eyes tho)
Now i understand why people dislike Scott EastWood.

And some few others, again didn't take away any of the joy. Boyega was great i actually liked the characters a bit more on this one, with the exception of the already mentioned, didn't find the teenagers anoying and Scrapper's the MVP. I understand why people could dislke it, but i'd say if you wanna have a fun time go watch Pacific Rim Uprising; you can actually see and actually enjoy the action in here, robots look like freaking robots and plot's actually better than those excuse of transformers movies. Go watch it and have fun i'd say :D

@grif - And anything Marvel touches is box office gold. Wouldn't that just cancel it out?

Crap casting anyway, he should be the nephew Of Goliath.

@TheRealMandarin - Yeah. This just seems like they're taking a well known black actor and putting him in any well known black superhero. Kinda racist the more I think about it.

@Origame - If I have to choose a white superhero for John Boyega, that is Iceman.

Mahershala Ali should be the next Blade. John Boyega while a fine actor just does not have that gruff, badasssness that Snipes had.

I dig Boyega as an actor, but I don’t see him as Blade either. I think he would have made a great Jedi in training, but that seems to have been too difficult for the last paint by numbers Star Wars we got.

I've heard from a few people working in the film industry that Boyega is at the top of WB's list for John Stewart.

Not like they're gonna get him or anything; just passing the message along.

I really liked Boyega as Finn and I liked him in Attack the Block, so I'd love to see him in a CBM role. I just don't think he's right for Blade or John Stewart.

I thought he would be good in Creed 2 if they didn’t go the Drago Jr route. Not sure where he would be a good fit in a CBM though.
