A Clue That Ryan McPartlin is Captain America!?

A Clue That Ryan McPartlin is Captain America!?

Here is my take on why I think the following image points to Ryan McPartlin having been cast as Captain America...

Whilst scouring the internet for some Captain America casting news I came across the following image from the premiere of The Wolfman directed by Joe Johnston who’s next project will be the much anticipated comic book movie, The First Avenger: Captain America:

Featured in the picture is Ryan McPartlin (alongside his wife) who linked himself to the role of the star spangled Avenger just a few days before the photograph was taken (February 9th), "The one thing I can't stand are these actors that are twittering about auditioning for Captain America. It's really tacky. With that said, it is in the casting process and like many other actors, I read for it, so we'll wait and see what happens.”

I believe that this points to McPartlin having been cast as Captain America. It seems odd to me that an actor linked to the starring role of Johnston’s next movie was also invited to the premier of his next one. Why would a relative unknown from Chuck be there? Sure there were plenty of other actors there that had nothing to do with The Wolfman but none linked to Captain America as McPartlin has been!

Still think my theory is a little flimsy? Well, this isn’t the first time that something like this has happened! Both Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto attended the premiere of JJ Abrams' produced Cloverfield, right around the same time they were then cast in Star Trek also directed by Abrams! Anyway, that’s my take on the whole thing! Sure, it could be one big coincidence but I’d still like to know what you guys think!

Could be... i wouldn't bitch much but Jensen Ackles has a better commanding presence IMO. Either way, i'd be fine with that choice.

I've had to re-write and repost this because it was apparently deleted by accident. I'm sorry to you guys that left comments on the last article as they were obviously lost along with my original! :)

Ah, I was wondering where this went to.
I'm still thinking it could be a coincidence. I mean Chere has been to every opening of Harry Potter and I've yet to see her in any role.

He's also less "beefy" than Ackles frame wise. Not that he couldn't put on more bulk but he does have the same build as Jared Padalecki or Brandon Routh. Not saying i'm against it but out of the three rumoured choices, Jensen still is the best fit.

I just hope that being invited to the premiere of Wolfman was a consolation prize LMAO ;P

Hopefully it will tell no Jensen Ackles :-D

Actually, if I had to guess I would say that McPartlin is more "beefy" than Ackles. McPartlin is taller so he only looks slimmer but he's not.

Ackles has an average build. He's not as big as people think. He just wears alot of layers and long-sleeved shirts on Supernatural so no one can see his real size.

That being said I would still choose Ackles over McPartlin for Captain America.

Interesting Josh.

I've not seen this guy act so I can't comment on if he'd be good or not. Like Shaman said though, while he could bulk up, Jensen has much broader shoulders giving him more potential for a commanding frame.

zephyr - There are plenty of Supernatural scenes with Jensen just wearing a T-shirt. He is not as muscular as people may think, but he is athletic and has much broader shoulders than this guy.

I also was like "WTF??? Where did this go?". Glad you did re-post it Josh. There is something about how Ackles carries himself that just comes off as smug to me. I'm not saying that just because that is how he portrays his character in Supernatural, that must be the way he is. But I've watched interviews of him and I still think he has a cocky attitude. He has charisma and charm also, but it borders in the line of confident to the point of arrogance. I actually think Ackles would be a perfect candidate to play Hawkeye instead of Cap, but he is still not the worst choice. McPartlin really gives me that "As American as apple pie" sort of feel to him. He looks like a humble guy who is pleasant and polite, but could also step up when the situation calls for it. Obviously there is a lot of speculation on my part as far as his acting abilities, but physically he looks the part. He has the height, the looks and a good voice. He's about to turn 34, but I think he can still pass for mid 20's. One way or another he may or may not be the best guy for the job, but I think this bit of news Josh brought to our attention certainly leaves plenty of room for speculation. Having said that, I am just hoping and praying that they pick anybody but Chad Murray.

What Ron said. He's got a good frame, but not a lot of muscle. Padalecki is the one that's ripped. Dude's in shape!

zephyr- I'm actually going by the topless pics of both of them that LEEE posts all over the place LOL

Ron- Very true, i never said the guy was a closet body builder. He looks beefier than McPartlin but that's about it. I'm just splitting straws ;P

McLovin- Even though Ackles is my top pic for Cap, i can't go against him also being a perfect choice for Barton. And yes, your observations are correct IMO. Ackles seems more "smug" in the everyday while McPartlin seems more "humble". BUT... here's the thing. Ackles seems like he has "balls" a.k.a. "a commanding presence" while McPartlin is more humble a.k.a. "spineless". I realise those are generalisations and that both of them are actors that should be able to do anything they're paid for. But as a fan of Cap, i can't help but going for the balls.

ecksmanfan- Padalecky could be a very decent choice for the next Superman. Ron came up with that and after a while of mental imaging compared to the range he has displayed on Supernatural, i think he could pull it off.

I hope it isn't true, because nothing that I've seen of the guy has convinced me that he has what it takes for this role, but if he does get cast, perhaps, eventually, I might come around.

But Craig Robinson from the Office and Some Guy from Dancing With the Stars were also there, so I don't know.

Ron: Thanks man! You should check him out in Chuck - its not a role all that similar to Cap but he's a brilliant actor IMO!

McLovin: He would be suited to Hawkeye but I do think he'd make adecent Captain America! I think he could lose the cocky attitude for that role because there's been a lot of episodes of Supernatural that have showcased his emotional acting range as well as his very Captain America-like personality!

McPartlin is a bettter choice though. He does come across as more like Steve Rogers rather than JUST Captain America. And he definitely has all the right things going for him as you say in looks, voice and personality! And yeah, he does come across as being a nice guy when I've seen him interviewed as well!

TYLER: Maybe so, lol, but neither of them have been linked to Captain America! :)
Shaman
Shaman - 2/18/2010, 1:59 PM
Tyler- Now we have to add to it that Johnston is choosing the pic. The same guy who made a not so great movie lately called Wolfman. So i think we can be a little worried here. Not sure i'll like a less "intense" McPartlin if Johnston will direct him in the same way as he did Del Toro. Jensen would have brought his own usual intenseness to the role for a tried, tested and true Cap without director supervision.

Shaman: Dude, ever since I first saw your first Ackles as Captain America sketch, I've been convinced he's perfect for the role but now I just prefer McPartlin! Maybe another Ackles sketch willchange my mind, lol! As for who's got the bigger build, these two pictures arent up to date but I really cant tell!

Shaman: Yeah, Wolfman wasn't that great. It did worry me about Johnston's ability to make the audience emotionally connect to the characters and actually give a shit about them. Hopefully he'll be able to bring out more of his "Rocketeer" rather than his "Wolfman" when it comes time for shooting.

Del Toro really did seem like he was sleepwalking, didn't he? He was so...bland. And this is Jackie Boy from Sin City we're talking about! Jeez.

Ackles does really seem like a better fit than McPartlin though. He's got the intensity, something I have not seen McPartlin demonstrate, and a lot of dramatic/emotional range, again, something I have not seen McPartlin show. I think the best way to summarize this Ackles V. McPartlin thing is that I'd feel way more at ease if Ackles took the shield than McPartlin.

Hey, I would have thought we'd have some Arm & Hammer pics by now?

@ Tyler- I hear ya man, Wolfman has got me pretty worried. What you said about Del Toro in it was spot on, and that's bad news. Del Toro is a fantastic actor Traffic, Che, Jackie Boy, Fenster, the list great performances goes on with him. Under Johnston he seemed flat and lack luster. But, I will say he didn't get much in the way of support from the other actors or the writing. So i have a feeling this could all go either way.

@Josh- Awesome pic btw
Shaman
Shaman - 2/19/2010, 8:52 AM
Tyler- Yeah i mean, how bad of a director can you be to make Jackie Boy fall flat??? It does worrie me alot more than i thought it would. But if we get confirmation that Ackles gets cast as Cap, then my worry will just wash away cause there's nothing Johnston can do to take away Jensen's intensity. It's in his blood! McPartlin would need to work at it and i don't think Johnston is the right coach for the job.

Layperson- Yeah... i guess it could go either way. I just don't know anymore.

I think Mcpartlin would make a good Captain America, He's got the acting chops and the look. He's about 6'4 and weighs about 205.He needs to put on another 20 pounds of muscle though.

McPARTLIN looks quite muscular for Cap! He just needs to get
pumped-up a little bit more!

Ryan's perfect for Cap and that's my take!
