Speaking to ScreenRant to promote Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, actor Jeremy Renner teased his upcoming role in Captain America: Civil War.
"Yeah, yeah. It’s more active. A lot of fun stuff happening in that one. I can’t speak too much for it. They’re still filming that sucker right now. But yeah, there’s a lot of stuff happening in that one physically for me anyway. Then who knows in the future? I don’t know what’s going to happen."
Renner was also asked whether he thinks it's better for long-established franchises, such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to introduced new characters and phase out the older actors or remain focused on the original cast and let the actors age in place. Here's Renner's response:
"I think it’s probably both. It’s always great to know that you are going have a job next year or something. That’s a fantastic blessing for any actor. It’s nice to be able to continue things and characters that you’ve kind of grown with. But it’s always great to have new faces come in. They’re not big on replacing people and characters so much, which I think is smart, because there’s so many different characters. I think there’s going to be a lot of new faces coming up in that world. I’m happy just to be a part of that big universe."
Captain America: Civil War arrives in theaters on May 6, 2016. The film is directed by Joe an Anthony Russo from a script penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The film is based on the comic saga created in 2006 by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven. The film will mark the thirteenth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
