Last week, I posted information I'd received from a source who works with Marvel Studios regarding the casting of Robert Buckley as Captain America. Though I was asked to pull the article offline rather quickly, a few sites were able to roll with the rumor.

Just today, Rob Keyes of Screenrant.com reported that Buckley, though not mentioned on the unconfirmed list of five Cap candidates, did audition for the role of Captain America. Furthermore, the actor is now being considered for the role of Bucky Barnes, Cap's WWII sidekick.



This wouldn't be the first time an actor who was interested in the title role of a comic book movie gets offered another part in the film. The latest news of this circumstance was with Tom Hiddleston in Kenneth Branagh's Thor. Though he auditioned for the part of the God of Thunder, he was instead signed to portray Thor's nemesis, Loki. It's not unlikely that the person I spoke with regarding the original rumor jumped the gun in assuming Buckley's involvement with Captain America.

Though I personally think this is definitely a better casting option, his stature does fits the Cap role much closer than the current names that have popped up. This could lead to a bit of a predicament. If the list of Captain America contenders released by Deadline.com last week turns out to be true, how many of those actors would look disproportionate standing next to the 6'2, solidly built Buckley?

Great wake up, Multi!!! :))

I'd say Jensen Ackles could still look good next to Buckley since he's buffer but he's still an inch shorter. I think that would be a job for.... movie magic. Cause My second choice (Vogel) might be way too short at 5'10. Hedlund would be taller at 6'3 but he's built like a lengthy swimmer, not an olympic gymnast like Cap should be. Build wise, Jensen has the broad shoulders needed to look imposing on the battle field! PERFECT CAP!!!

so only as bucky..then if that's the case they'll be needing a big muscled Capt America to stand side by side with Robert Buckley.

Multi- Too true, Vogel is definitely the best out the last list we heard of.

If you take your pic and put it next to mine, you can see that Buckley has very narrow shoulders compared to Jensen. Buckley's(and Hedlund's) length cannot look as stout as Cap is supposed to look(in a perfect world). Boy, that last pic of Buckley looks alot like Scott Speedman LOL

Multi- Hmmm, true. But i can't find any up to date topless pics of him to compare. Still, where Buckley's built looks very "toned", i think Jensen has a better build for "mass". I think with little work, Jensen could pump up bigger than what Buckley's build would allow him. But it's just a theory ;)

I'll go goggle some man beef pics of Jensen and see what i come UP with LOL ;P But yeah, he pretty much is out of the running :(

@Shaman : my friend.. i think that if this is true.. all the actors shorter than buckley wont be considered.. KAPUT.. there goes Jensen as CAP.. nw.. Krasinski, hedlund etc are still in the race

I think its hilarious that whenever a Cap article is posted fellas start talking about big broad shoulders and toned definition!

Anyway, I could see him as Bucky more than Cap for sure..although the only one out of that short list that would look ok standing next to him height wise is...Krasinski!

Apart from maybe Scott Porter, this guy would make a better Cap than any of the others on the shit/short list!

I guess he'd be ok as Bucky but he'd end up looking more impressive and Cap-like if someone like the pudding faced Krasinski were cast as Captain America! :P

if he's bucky then they must be casting a older actor for cap, i dont think they will cast actors around the same age, for both parts.

lol only Ryan McPartlin (6,4") and Armie Hammer (6,5") are taller, and they aren't on the list..
Chris Hemsworth (6,3") will must have some expensive soles to be taller than Bucky or Cap!

EDIT: crap forgot Krasinski (6,3").... :(

He could work for Bucky. His voice just loses it for me to be considered for Cap.

If he's 6'2" then they can still have an actor 6' or taller play the role effectively. Vogel would be tough at 5'10. They can make him look taller but his frame would always give it away. So, a couple of inches shorter won't really matter

At least thats what my wife says

If this is true, I wonder why would they cast someone 6'2. I always pictured Bucky as being how Steve Rogers was before the serum, just shorter.

Buttt Krasinski is 6'3 so I guess it could work.lol

I could definitely see Buckley as the current, older Bucky though...however, at this point I'd rather see him play Captain America! Krasinski, Vogel and the rest are all such awful choices I'd almost rather see Sam Worthington weild the shield! (never thought I'd say that, lol!)

Bucky is still an itty bitty guy at the WW2 stage of his life.

I could sure see Buckley as Namor, he has that strange sorta face that would work for the part. But he would be even more perfect for the original Human Torch.
