Sites all over have been restating the rumor that Star Trek's, Chris Pine, is the frontrunner in playing Captain America. The rumor originated from cinemaspy. Well thankfully GossipCop has spoken to someone close to Chris. Here is what GossipCop said:

A source close to Pine tells Gossip Cop there’s been “no offer at all.”

PLUS a second source, the twitter of Chris Pine's official site operators, have also denied the rumor tweeting the following:

"Is Chris really up for Captain America role? "Pure speculation." - So there you have it guys, he is not attached to the CA role. :)"

MarvelFreshman: Even though this isn't more prominent than the rumor itself, it's still great to hear that someone is knocking the rumor down. What do you think?

No offer doesn't mean he's not in negotiations. Personally, I think Pine should be Cap - charisma, authority, the look, he can carry a film, and more.

PS. MarvelFreshman, you are a bloodhound! Once again, nice find.

I really like the choice of words in the title. "Denied by Accomplice" Makes it sound like Pine's got a criminal record :)

None of the above for Cap.

No Arm & Hammer, no McFartlin, no Pine (though I do admit he'd give a good performance).

Unknown :)

Anil: I said he'd give a good performance. Not great. And he probably would give a good performance. PROBABLY. I wouldn't want Pine because he doesn't look manly enough (his appearance in Smokin' Aces doesn't count, he was made to look like a rotten hillbilly in that, of course he'd look rugged), and is probably a bit too fresh in our minds as the new Kirk. We might not see Captain America, we might see the Captain of the Enterprise.

Anil: No, it would mean that I'm watching Pine's performance, but I'm not visualizing Captain America, I'm visualizing Captain Kirk.

The Reynolds argument is pointless. He's proven to me that he has more than enough talent and diversity to be a convincing Hal Jordan. Pine only has Star Trek and Smokin' Aces on me. He was good in Star Trek, don't get me wrong, and he was okay in Smokin' Aces, but not enough to convince me that he has what it takes to be a convincing Captain America.

Pine can get a manly body, for sure, but he still looks like a kid in the face unless you give him a beard, and last time I checked Steve Rogers doesn't have a beard. He's like Tom Welling (though not as extremely boyish, I'll admit), he just doesn't look quite masculine enough.

Give an unknown the shield. I'll just leave the argument at that. I want an unknown to wield the shield, you want Pine, fair enough.

@LEEE777 - Don't you think if Hammer gets the part, it would be a little weird to have Cap be taller than Thor? Hammer is 6'5" and Hemsworth is 6'3". I know "movie magic" can do wonders, but as is Chris is a bit short for the role. He would look even shorter next to Hammer.

@mclovin

ok I thought by now we've established that Pine is 6'1. He's not too short.
McLovin
McLovin - 2/18/2010, 10:23 AM
@IsaiahBradley - Huh? No, I was referring to Armie Hammer (whom I know very little about, but seems to have the right look). I think Pine's height is fine. I'm not sure if he actually looks enough like cap (in my humble opinion). If he was to get the part, I would be ok with it, but he would not be my fist choice. As long as it's not wimpy lame-ass Chad Girly Murray. If that guy gets the part, I'm skipping this movie all together.
IsaiahBradley
IsaiahBradley - 2/19/2010, 7:58 AM
See, I dont think Armie Hammer looks the part. He looks weird. And it looks like he wears eye-liner. I think out of all the rumors Pine was the one that made the most sense to me. I think he would be favored in a poll over 99% of those picks people put up on this site.
