Warner Bros. will kick off their wave of DC Comics movies in 2016 with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but for now, big screen superhero releases are pretty much all dominated Marvel! This year saw the release of four; Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy. Before we get you guys to weigh in with your thoughts, let's look at how each of the movies did both in terms of the response from critics and financially. Surprisingly, there's not that big of a difference in terms of box office takings!

Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 89% Rotten Tomatoes Score, $714 million worldwide

X-Men: Days of Future Past - 91% Rotten Tomatoes Score, $745 million worldwide

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - 53% Rotten Tomatoes Score, $708 million worldwide

Guardians of the Galaxy - 92% Rotten Tomatoes Score, $635 million worldwide

Remember, Guardians of the Galaxy has yet to open in China, so there's every chance it could end up finishing in second place behind X-Men: Days of Future Past in terms of box office revenue! There's a very clear difference between the critical reception to three of this year's superhero movies compared to the one from Sony of course, but we know from experience that the opion of the critics doesn't necessarily reflect that of the fans! So, cast your vote in the poll below and then let us know your favourite superhero movie of 2014 in the comments section.

If I were to put it in order, I'd go with Guardians of the Galaxy placing in second, Days of Future Past in third, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

1) Guardians
2) Cap
3) Spidy
4) X-Men

Sorry, but X-Men was wildly overrated. And until I get a good representation of Cyclops on film I am never going to give a shit about the franchise

Spidy for all it's flaws was actually enjoyable.

Cap was not only the best comic movie but the best movie of the 1st half of the year.

Guardians took Cap's mantle as my favorite Marvel solo movie. It was the most fun I had ever had at the theater. Yes, there are flaws like in any movie, but it was still extremely fun.

X Men was the best acted, directed, and just the best in general. It was a real movie.
GhostDog
GhostDog - 9/28/2014, 7:42 AM
Cap was a game changer. Has to choose Cap 2. GOTG and DOFP were great but Cap reinvigorated the character and made him a badass. The story was a little more compelling than GOTG which was essentially the run of the mill save the galaxy which is compelling but it been done. GOTG was a fun adventure but so was Cap. Cap 2 was also verrrry action packed and had the best fight scenes of any CBM ever. The combat was amazing. Cap right now could kick cinematic Batman's ass lol

HubisKhan - 9/28/2014, 7:46 AM
Voted for X Men DOFP, which is my fav CMB of all time. But Marvel is ultimately winning cause 3 out of 4 were outstanding movies and 4 out of 4 made money. So everyone is winning!

1) GOTG: I've been geeking for this movie for so long, it was my favorite of the bunch and a rollercoaster of emotions.
2) CA:TWS & DOFP (tied): both were some of the finest CBM I've ever seen.
4) TASM 2: enjoyable but sloppy.

GhostDog

Cap 2 is the best Marvel fink to date!!! Almost TDK level. It did what TDK did, mixed genres effectively. TDK was CBM and a crime thriller. Cap 2 was a CBM an a polical conspiracy/espionage thriller
NovaCorpsFan
NovaCorpsFan - 9/28/2014, 7:52 AM
I'd give Cap and Days a solid 4.5 outta 5, but Guardians was just... Like, I cried twice in that cinema!
