Matthew Scott Porter is an American actor known most famously for his role as Jason Street in the NBC television drama "Friday Night Lights." His character was injured during a football game in the pilot episode and became a quadriplegic.

With news reported by Nerdles.com that Porter has just signed on the dotted line as the male lead in CW's action-adventure show "Nomads," what are the chances of him now being Captain America?

Porters one of many young actors rumored to be testing for Marvel Studios' "Captain America: First Avenger" movie.

"Nomads" is a new show by Ken Sanzel and producers Ridley and Tony Scott.

I guess he is out of the race for playing Cap. I actually thought he would be good for the role...ah well.I don't know but I have a feeling that Marvel chose the actor already but they won't say for some reason.

I have had a question for quite some time now concerning The First Avenger. I have started to write an editorial more than once but they came off as a rant so I ditched them.

Marvel has put up a website for every single movie or television series or direct to dvd feature it has created, be it live action or animated. Not only have they put up a website for each one but they have put each website up months ahead of any kind of information being availible for the feature.

YET THERE IS STILL NO WEBSITE FOR THE FIRST AVENGER. Nothing, nada, no trace of not only a website but any information at all that comes straight form the companies mouth as anything resembling official. This doesn't make any sense at all to me. Is there anybody reading this that has any sort of theory for this that makes sense?

Thor and Iron Man 2 websites sat completely empty for months. But they were there to see.

wolverine09 : I would hope that they would. It just strikes me as strange that the other sites were up WAY before any kind of casting took place.

Back on the subject of this article.
I doubt that Porter is still open to play Cap. If the CW producers would not accommodate Ackles to play Cap why would they do so for Porter?

old news. allready knew that he was cast in another show. read about this a few day's ago on other website and posted this on cbm. strangley enough the article was taken offline quickly :p

o well.. cant really see him playing captain america.

Ohh why are all the decent choices leaving. Jensen Ackles is out, Ryan Mcpartlin is out, Scott Porter is out, that Cassidy guy is out, whose next? I doubt Krasinski is next. I have a very weird feeling that Krasinski is cast and that Marvel is just trying to find out a way to cast him without getting too many fans angry. So their solution is probably to slowly reveal that the other contenders are not cast till Krasinski is the only contender left. I just hope that Marvel makes the right decision.

Great find LEE but damn, this guy is the best choice out of the shit list to play Cap! I have a horrible feeling that the movie is going to end up being pretty awful especially with Johnston at the helm and actors like Krasinski being considered! ;(

No frickin' Shrek for Cap! If that happens I will be boycotting the movie. They said they were going to go with an unknown, so I hope that they still pull a rabbit out of the hat and surprise us with anyone but Krasinski. I don't see him as an unknown anyway. I would gladly take a true unknown over the dork any day.

What the FRAK! When are we going to start getting some good news about this cast? Every time I open this site, I say a little prayer "Please let there be news about who is playing Cap" and so far, every bit of news I have read up on, is about one of the better actors dropping out of the race. I swear if they end up picking some CW pretty boy douche bag, I will boycott this freaking movie.
