Stanley Tucci is playing Abraham Erskine, the 1940s scientist who injects weakling Steve Rogers with the super-soldier serum that transforms him into the star-spangled avenger, Captain America. Here's what he had to say about that role.

"I love it when people go, 'Are you playing Captain America?' 'What do you think?' So that's what I'm doing in London," he laughed when talking to the The Toronto Sun recently.

When asked to share his feelings on the movie that will be directed by Joe Johnston and star Chris Evans and Hugo Weaving, he said: "It's a well-written script. Really well-written."

However, he did add that unlike Samuel L. Jackson, he won't be reprising the role in any other upcoming Marvel Studios movies: "No - I don't have anything like a nine-picture deal. But I'd like to!"

Captain America: The First Avenger will be released in 3D on July 22, 2011!

Unless he's in flashbacks (or becomes a zombie) I dont see him coming back for sequels.

Abraham Erskine dies, if he didn't everyone would be a super soldier.
Also the Captain America sequel will probably take place 65 years later, since he will be frozen in the end.

Winter Soldier for the enemy in the sequel!

I would say flashbacks only. Still wondering how the hell will SLJ Fury be in the 40´s and still be alive today.

yeah it would have to be all in flashbacks that aren't seen in the Cap movie. or else it would be like audio logs or video footage...because obviously the Cap sequels would be in the modern day

Yeah, I don't see any point in him returning for future Captain America movies. Erskine dying in Steve's arms after giving him the super soldier serum is a big moment and really the only major thing we need to see IMO. :)

I think the whole Captain America franchise should be set in the old days. I think it would look goofy set in present day besides the avengers. Who's he going to fight once Red Skull is dead.

"Still wondering how the hell will SLJ Fury be in the 40´s and still be alive today."

In "traditional" marvel history Sgt. Fury of the Howling Commandos fought in WWII, at times alongside Captain America. Then took the infinity formula which halted his ageing processes, neatly allowing him to continue into current Marvel history as well.

As for Erskine; he's dead and gone. But that doesn't necessarily rule out Tucci for other roles, if he and Marvel are so inclined.

If Cap didn't end with him being frozen, their could be plently of sequels. The Avengers should begin with him being frozen (I know they won't but w/e). Plus, I don't think Cap should end with his downfall, so much for inspiring hope. Meh, I'll still see it :D
