Newsarama got chance to catch up with the writer of the upcoming video game from Sega which will allow players to play as Captain America as he faces the Red Skull and his army in an epic third- person action adventure set in the darkest days of World War II.

"For a longtime fan like me - I just recently came across the first Invaders comic I ever bought, issue #5, when I was four years old - it's a dream come true to work on bringing as iconic a figure as Captain America to life in an interactive videogame, where players can literally become him in the World War II setting that defined the character."

"It's also intimidating, because as fans ourselves, everyone involved knows how high expectations are! The development team and I are doing all we can to deliver an experience that both the comic book and videogame audiences will find rich and rewarding...one that will be as timeless as Cap himself."

Are you looking forward to Captain America: Super Soldier? What do you think about the information we've so far heard on the video game? Is the Avengers Academy writer the best pick to pen the story? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

The movie, Captain America: The First Avenger, will be released on July 22, 2011!

Unfortunately for Gage, the story can be great and the game play can still kill it.

It's a SEGA game so yes it will probably suck. A true fan will play it any way. I'm like that with Thor stuff. I know that game will suck but I'll still play it.

As this is being made by Sega, the same developers who made those two awful Iron Man games, I'll give it a miss. It admittedly looks and sounds great but I'll wait and see what the reviews are like before wasting my money on another stinker! :P

@JoshW: Don't be so quickly off-put by Sega's name being on it. They aren't actually developing the game, they're just publishing it. It's being made by the studio that made the newest Punch-Out game for Wii.

That said, my hopes aren't high, but I know it'll be better than IM/IM2/TIH. Punch-Out Wii was enjoyable, so I imagine that the developers will at least make an alright game here.

How did this untalented tool wind up with this prime project. Why not Brubaker? Jeez, let's have Chris Bachalo do the concept art and then I can save the $60 for another game. The best game is still The Punisher, story by Ennis. Let's see another one from him.

LOL I love how people think Sega is the actual studio developing it.

They're publishing it people. Not making it. Friggin' people don't know how anything works now days... Damn kids... Get off my hypothetical lawn.
