CAPTAIN MARVEL Passes $500 Million As An Eventual $1+ Billion Worldwide Haul Becomes A Virtual Guarantee

Haters be damned, Captain Marvel has proven itself to be one of the mightiest Marvel Studios movies to date at the worldwide box office with a haul of over $500 million in less than a week. Check it out...

Captain Marvel hasn't even been out for a full week yet and it's already crossed the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office. While the basement dwellers who attempted to tank its Rotten Tomatoes score are bound to put this down to it being sandwiched between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Ant-Man and The Wasp is proof that's nonsense.

As of Monday, Captain Marvel had earned $164 million domestically and $325.6 million overseas for a mighty worldwide haul of $490 million. Today, it has sailed past the $500 million mark.

The Hollywood Reporter's box office analysts confirmed that the movie is "now virtually assured of finishing its run with $1 billion or more" and that's no great surprise when it landed the sixth biggest global debut of all-time over the weekend with $455 million. For comparison, Wonder Woman made $821.8 million by the end of its run but that took 23 weeks.

There's no war here, though; instead, this simply proves that there is indeed a demand for female-led superhero movies and both the DC Comics superhero and the new face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have kicked open the door to make that a reality.

@GoldGuy -

No disrespect to Brie, but until they give her a character arc as powerful and poignant as the several arcs Steve Rogers has had, (hell, until they even give her a character arc at all, she didn't have one in Captain Marvel) then Captain America is still my Captain. He worked for it over several films of growth, hard work and character building stories that actually make the investment into the character feel deserved.

Btw I hear (read) people saying Carol is now the first Avenger... I'm no history buff but I'm pretty sure WW1 was before the 90s. When you say Cap you think of Steve not Carol. Cap is my Captain.
