There's still some time to go until the full embargo is lifted on Captain Marvel set visits but a number of outlets have today been allowed to share their interviews with Brie Larson.
It's well worth heading over to Collider to take a look at the full version but one thing that's particularly noteworthy is how the Oscar-winner feels about being the first female lead in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, something people are obviously making a very big deal out of.
"I don’t know. I don’t know how it’s any different. To be honest, I don’t want it to feel different. Kind of over the first female blah, blah, blah. And like, ‘Wow, maybe women can actually do the same things that dudes can do. Like, what a crazy concept!’ You know what I mean? I feel like the more we talk about it, the more we perpetuate the myth that it’s an impossible task. It’s like, no. If it wasn’t like that before it’s because it was wrong. That was just wrong. Now we’re just doing what’s natural."
That's an interesting take on things and she's right that people probably shouldn't spend too much focusing on this point otherwise it won't be treated as the norm (which it should be by now).
Larson was also asked about Captain Marvel writer Kelly Sue DeConnick who served as a consultant on the movie! That's something we didn't know before now and should be welcomed by fans.
"Gosh. I have to admit that talking with her was so surreal. I feel like I just blacked out. I felt really nervous because it’s this thing that this woman, that she created that I feel very certain she knows way better than I do. [Laughs] I just was so honored to receive her blessing and to see how excited she was. That felt like a relief to me because, you know, she pushed this forward. We wouldn’t be here without her, really, and I’m so grateful for that character that she created. And now we’re just kind of following the breadcrumb trail that she made, you know?"
