The cast of Captain Marvel is nothing short of incredible but one of the most exciting things about the Brie Larson led release will be seeing the return of characters like Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), and Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou).
Seeing as the Marvel Comics adaptation is set during the 1990s, it makes sense that we'll see younger versions of familiar faces and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has now revealed why that is.
"It was the backstory of those characters crossing over into Kree mythology, and Kree lore, that just made it made it work," he explains referring to Ronan's history in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "And I always think it’s fun to see, most obviously with Fury in Captain Marvel, but also to a certain extent you’ll see with Ronan and Korath, characters the way they were before they became the icons that you have seen in other films. And it’s just fun to see people in different environments."
With that in mind, there's a very good chance that Captain Marvel will show us how Nick Fury lost his eye and why Ronan decided to ultimately align himself with Thanos to try and destroy Xandar.
