At the end of
Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers blasted into outer space alongside Talos and a number of Skrull refugees who her mentor, Mar-Vell, had been attempting to save. In the mid-credits scene, she finally returned to Earth but what happened to the HERo for the many years she was blasting through outer space alongside the shape-shifters?
In a recent interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked about exactly that and pointed to future instalments in the franchise delving into the past and the Kree/Skrull War.
"Will we see it lived through more? Yeah. I mean, I think one of the things that's fun to us about the timeline of this film and the potential of future stories with these characters is there's a great past, not just of Mar-Vell, but of the entire Skrull/Kree conflict and also this gap of history between when Carol Danvers flew off with Talos at the end, spoiler, and when she arrives with the Avengers."
Feige went on to reveal that while
Avengers: Endgame will make reference to what Carol has been up to, Marvel Studios really wanted to give the character her "own corner" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that likely means her adventures will remain in outer space for the time being.
"We wanted to give her her own corner of the universe, her own mythology. While we're not specific about this in the movie, there's potential to understand where has she been this whole time. Why haven't we seen her yet? The answer is revealed and hinted at in this movie [Endgame] as she was dealing with a colossal, universal conflict in another section of the MCU."
What this means for Ms. Marvel's rumoured introduction remains to be seen. What do you think about Feige's remarks? As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
