Ben Mendelsohn is a terrific actor and no stranger to playing bad guys. He menaced a Galaxy Far, Far Away in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and if recent reports are to be believed, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is next on his hit list when he signs on to play the leader of the Skrulls. So, how does the actor feel about reteaming with Mississippi Grind directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden for Captain Marvel?
Well, as you might expect, he wasn't willing to say much but is clearly aware of the project and makes it clear he likes the thought of squaring off with Brie Larson's Carol Danvers on the big screen in 2019.
"Wow, that would be lovely. That would be really nice. But I know that Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden – I think I know how this one got started because they did Mississippi Grind obviously, and I think they’re a great choice and a really interesting choice for that film.
"Well you see a smile because I’m amused that people even bother to ask. Only because it’s one of those things, it’s sort of like being in the secret service for a moment. You can neither confirm nor deny… It would be thrilling, I’m sure."
So, nothing is definite yet but it very much sounds like he probably has signed on to star in Captain Marvel! While Mendelsohn is occasionally typecast as a villain, there's no denying that he'll be a good fit for a role like this and we'll hopefully hear something official soon as the cast continues to grow.
