Mark Waid's IRREDEEMABLE And INCORRUPTIBLE Are Being Adapted At Netflix As Live-Action Feature Film

BOOM! Studios has announced that Netflix is developing Irredeemable and Incorruptible for a live-action movie with The Harder They Fall director Jeymes Samuel and Academy Award-Nominated screenwriter Kemp Powers (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse).

The movie will feature the protagonists from each series; one a villain on a quest to become a superhero, and the other a fallen hero turned villain, as they face off.

When the world’s most powerful and beloved superhero, the god-like Plutonian, inexplicably begins slaughtering everyone on Earth, the only person that can stop him is his former arch-nemesis, the super-powered villain Max Damage. Unwillingly thrust into the role of savior, Max must uncover the Plutonian’s mysterious past in order to discover how to bring him down. But can he discover what made the Plutonian go crazy before his own degenerative super powers cause him to lose his mind?

While this could have made for a compelling TV series, Jupiter's Legacy made many comic book fans doubt Netflix's ability to tell these superhero stories in a long-form setting. However, a movie based on this property - which was created by Mark Waid (Kingdom Come) and illustrated by Peter Krause - definitely has some potential, and the two titles combined have sold over 2.5 million copies.

There's currently no word on casting or the movie's release date (we don't even have an official title yet), but this is a positive update on a project that's been discussed for several years.

Are you excited to check out this adaptation of Irredeemable and Incorruptible?

Having to compete in the superhero market against Marvel and DC is gonna be quite challenging for Netflix, especially if they do stuff with the quality of Jupiter's Legacy. Hopefully they have better luck with this one. I personally have no knowledge of it.

I have no knowledge of this as well, but sounds interesting. It's always been alluded: the fine balance between villains and heroes in this genre, so definitely happy to is it being tackled head on. Netflix doesn't have the best track record though.

Between Jupiters Legacy and Guardians of Justice, I'm not sure how interested I'm in seeing Netflix doing another superhero becomes supervillain thing

Combining the two into one movie is a smart idea imo, now we’re getting something with a bit more depth than Evil Superman.

Interested until I saw Netflix’s involvement. The series was definitely interesting but the premise is more common these days with The Boys, etc.

Well at least it's a movie. Hard to trust Netflix with live action superhero series after just how bad they fumbled with Jupiter's Legacy.

Yaaay more evil Superman. Not like we’ve done that to death (and quite well) the last few years.

@BlackBeltJones - I don’t get why Hollywood is so hell bent on depicting evil Superman so often. We can’t even get a proper good Superman movie to begin with. Can they hold off with these evil variants?

I'm not familiar with the source material, but I hope it's done well. I'm always in the mood for morally questionable super people.

Met Mark back in the 90s at a convention, while he signed a comic of mine and I told him I’m a huge fan of his work, after he signed the comic he rolled his eyes and tossed the comic at me causing the cover to bend and rudely said next. Haven’t been much of a fan of his since then. 🤷‍♂️

Jupiter's Legacy was boring except the flashbacks.
Super Crooks was really good.

Irredeemable was a great read, haven't read Incorruptible.Hope it's a decent adaption unlike Jupiter's Legacy.

Irredeemable is not cheap. It's far too ambitions of a property for Netflix, as in it'll cost more money then their cheap asses are willing to pay.
