Don't want to be that but Romita, still? I actually thought his initial cover work for the New 52 was solid but he quickly dropped the ball fast, it's actually putting me off Truth now.

When did Francis Manupul start doing the art for Justice League? Hmmmm might actually want to start getting this

As much as I was disappointed in all the Convergence hoopla, this new Superman direction is great. Batman, I'm still on the fence about. Howard Porter? OKAY! Plus: Manapul on Justice League? Fabok need a break??? Plus, still not sure about The Flash. The art on Detective Comics & Batman is great but still...on the fence.

You got to love comic books for how [frick]ed their time is. You have JL 46 where Bruce Wayne Batman is the new Metron and you have Batman 46 where Bruce Wayne quit being Batman for a while now. Happens with both companies but you still have to love the middle finger the companies give to having real continuity.

@InfiniteMonkey

Ya I am not a fan of Romita Jr.'s art his character are all so damn boxy looking. His run on Captain America, Avengers, here on Superman the characters look really boxy.

After Convergence, DC decided that they would loosen up continuity and put emphasis on making great stories with great characters. And that's exactly what they've done. If you're a real stickler for continuity I'm sure there's a way for it all to work, but I'd rather just enjoy the stories than worry about where they fit on a timeline.

@WhiteSAMURAI
Manapul starts on JL with issue #45, while main artist Jason Fabok (presumably) has a break.

Don't think I am calling out DC for anything because Marvel does the same thing and it mainly goes against having a single character in multiple comic books or teams at the same time. When Batman or Wolverine have their own comic going and are on 3-4 teams at the same time it makes no damn sense what is going on.

Just a break... awwww. Nothing against Fabok, just seeing an artist like Manupul doing art on a story with more "epic" proportions sounds interesting.

@A2K

The card says JRJR is only on the cover, and Howard Porter took over the rest of the art.

@KilledHal9000

Yup, Fabok and Manapul said in their twitters, it's a one thing; Fabok will return after.

I usually hate artists switching in the middle of storylines but I'm fine with this. Well, cause I like the artists. Comic book artist switching with other artists for a break or time constraints is one of the most off-putting things. Even worse is when it changes artists right in the middle of an issue. I just think its a little unfair for who the guest artist. Usually these are up and coming artists, sometimes good, sometimes nothing too special. But most of the time its such a weird shift that its hard to appreciate the art at all. But then again, they are getting a spotlight that they wouldn't have got anyways.

"This month in 'Superman': a near-powerless, crew-cut, homeless, fugitive Man of Steel in a T-shirt and blue jeans joins a fight club! Is he gritty enough for you now, people? IS HE GRITTY ENOUGH FOR YOU NOW?"

But in all seriousness, I've been liking the "Truth" story so far. Pushing Superman out of his comfort zone in terms of powers, his relationships, and his own sense of identity has been a really clever way to get to the root of who Superman is, both as a symbol and as a character. How do Superman's values and morality hold up when he no longer has the power to protect everybody-- not even himself? What lines will Superman cross now that his life is on the line? What lines will he NEVER cross?

Putting Superman in a desperate position is a brilliant way to illustrate how great a hero he is. Because even when he has to fight dirty to win brawls... when he has to watch out for danger, because he's not invulnerable... when every battle could end in his death... he'll still jump into the fray to protect people. He'll still try to find a peaceful solution. And he'll still win. Because he's still Superman.

... But yeah, dropping him into a fight club is still a bit much.

Does anybody have any leverage over Snyder & Capulo so we can force them to never leave the Batman title?! I cannot believe how these guys keep cranking out the best book every single month. Love it, love their work.

I'm loving Romita's work on Superman. It suits the story pretty perfect. It took a while to find a colorist that could translate his stuff, but its working now.

JRJr is a good artist (in my opinion) but seeing his Superman just strikes me as "odd". I like the guy's work and I think he's created quite the name for himself (if he was riding his father's coat-tails, as some have said, he would have faded to obscurity by now).

@Jollem

That's the only Superman art I've seen (from JRJr) that was really cool. I think I may just be too used to him drawing Spiderman, though.

I kind of think JRJr's art starts to look better as his hero gets more and more beat up. Went the same way for his work on Cap, DD, Punisher, and Spidey. And right now Supes is taking a serious beating.
I'd love to see him draw Batman one more time in his career. (the real Batman)
