She seem like a cool character, I don't see what's all the fuss about her taking up a abandoned name.

I don't understand why marvel feels the need to "reimagine" their heroes. Have they really run out of that many ideas or are they just tired of hearing that most of their heroes and villains are of one ethnicity? Believe me, I am not racist one bit, but these are characters that have been around for decades....why change now?

@CWBNGAJEEPGUY85

What did they change? Carol Davers still exists same as before except shes Captain Marvel. The new Ms Marvel is a new character who took that name for herself because she's a huge Carol Danvers fan girl. So really she's no different then Tim Drake, a fanboy of Batman and Dick who took up a vacant position.

Its not like they cosmically altered Carol into being a 15 year old Muslim girl or something.

Around the same time Daredevil used his Christian faith as a justification for slavery or beating someone's child to death, one imagines. You goddamn imbecile.

SMH at all the people on this thread who have no idea that this isn't supposed to be a 'reimagining' of Carol Danvers, or some kind of movie influence. If you don't know much about comics, stop opening your mouths and spitting out ignorance.

It funny how easily you can tell when someone doesn't read comics yet still feels the need to complain is when Ms. Marvel has been around for a while and they complain like it's new.

Do yourself a favor and actually read the series it's pretty awesome.

@Havenless

It's ironic because the fact that they seem to think Kamala is a Race Lifted version of Carol says to me they don't actually read the comics, when 9/10 these are the exact people who whine and scream like babies whenever they hear the movies are taking some sort of liberties with the source material.

They complain about politically correctness when it seems THEY are the ones who are too easily offended!

@orywilliams

Truer words have not been spoken. Its pretty much a proven fact 90% of people have either never read a comic or their last one was satelite era Justice League stuff from 35 years ago. Still, its nice to know they're factually full of shit whenever they complain about comic book adaptation accuracy so its not all bad.

Implying I'm Christian?

All religion is shit, and Islam is the top tier on the shit heap.

No one deserves respect for their faith, and this pandering horseshit from Marvel is pathetic.
Laconic
Laconic - 1/9/2015, 9:16 AM
By the way, are all of you who are comparing race to religion just stupid or do you always resort to and ad hoc argument of, "You don't like Islam, YOU'RE A RACIST!"?

There's nothing wrong with having original characters of any racial background (race swapping established characters is pathetic though), but this on-the-knees knob gobbling of Islam is disgusting.

Art work looks like crap and where are the new characters? There's a big universe out there and all we get is the same old characters repackaged? The old ones used to be great but these changes and no new characters are making the stories BORING!!

I can admit I don't read the comics...I have no idea where I would keep them all once I was done reading them! There are a ton I would like to delve into, but I have very little time and space. My man cave is currently being turned into a second nursery as my wife is pregnant again :). Someone corrected me earlier as I thought Ms. Marvel was the same as Captain Marvel. I had no idea they were two completely different characters. Also, does it really matter that she is a Pakastanie-American? Who cares?! And somehow the topic has snowballed into anti-religion. Probably has something to do with what I said and yes I did assume Marvel was falling to the pressure of being more ethnic friendly and I was wrong for that. But to say that someone who believes or has faith deserves no respect is uncalled for and childish. I'm a follower of Jesus and I believe in Him but I'm not boycotting this book because the character is Muslim...no, she is lines on paper. But she is someone's hero, I'm sure. I was just confused as to why Marvel was trying to reimagine a character to learn that she isn't a reimagining but a whole new hero all together. We're all here because we love comics and the movie genre, that alone should be enough.

And no, I'm not boycotting this title either....should have proof-read that before I hit "Post Comment"
Donovan
Donovan - 1/9/2015, 12:16 PM
...the ony thing I'm against here is that someone in Marvel, don't remember who or why, made the comment that it could be fun seeing some character like Kamala, facing troubles & stuff with her powers, age, ethnicity (?), like if it was some kind of Peter Parker treatment. That was dumb. I like the character & can see some potential ahead for the series & all this new things Marvel is doing with Inhumans, old/classic characters, new series & such...

@Laconic

Well said, it's obvious that what Marvel is doing is just displaying a badge reading "look, we're ok, we're cool and appropriately PC in the approved modern fashion". Same with DC and Power Girl. It really is disgusting.

If they were really concerned, they'd invent a new, interesting Muslim superhero. But no, that would be too much like work requiring thought and effort, much easier to make the minimal effort to kowtow to the PC brigade.
