These corrupted versions of Batman hailing from the Dark Universe apparently manipulate various Gotham City villains towards accomplishing some mysterious diabolical plot.  DC obviously (and understandably) can't give away any details on their plan at this early juncture.

The story of the villains and heroes that band together to oppose them will play out in Teen Titans #12 (September 13), Nightwing #29 (September 20), Suicide Squad #26 (September 27) and Green Arrow #32 (October 4). These four issues will comprise a miniseries titled Gotham Resistance.

Dark Nights: Metal #1 kicks things off on August 16.  For a peek at more teaser artwork, head over to the official DC Comics blog

I loved The Forge by Snyder.
And i'm intrigued by this.

This sounds pretty cool. I'll probably check it out when they release a collected volume of the run.

I like the idea of evil Batman, it's far more interesting than evil Superman or other heroes.

On the other hand I don't like so much the idea of hybrids. Guess I'll have to wait and see how this turns out.

@MrBullseye - FINALLY!! someone who agrees an evil version of batman is better than an evil version of other heroes. So Superman is gonna have to beat them all.
MrBullseye
MrBullseye - 6/17/2017, 3:25 PM
@SuperCam081392 - I've always thought it'd be interesting to see him go rogue. The closest we got was Batman: Vampire which I really enjoyed but it's kind of a cop out because, well, he's a vampire. But an actual Batman (Bruce Wayne, not another person calling himself Batman) that's snapped and starts murdering villains and going full dark and needing to be stopped by the Justice League is so much more plausible than Superman because of who Batman is as a person and what he can actually do if his goals were to stop his fellow heroes.

But it doesn't seem like these comics will be that story sadly. The wait continues I guess.

@SuperCam081392 -

Personally found the evil Batman idea boring and lame.

The conflict with Batman comes from him being pushed to the edge and seeing him desperately claw to both his sanity and his sense of right and wrong.

If you remove that and have him as an evil version, then unless he still maintains some level of his sanity OR his sense of right and wrong - he's just a basic criminal with some interesting gadgets.

The conflict is crucial to him being Batman/Bruce Wayne.

@MrBullseye - I always wanted injustice 2 to be about regime Superman escaping trying to the main dcu but lands in a universe similar to his but batman is the villian.

SuperCam081392 - 6/17/2017, 6:23 PM
@Scarilian - every time I watch dawn of justice batman always looks and acts like the villain till after the fight IMO even though joker lex is.

@SuperCam081392 - lol, I'm pretty sure everyone in bvs is a villain

@SuperCam081392 -

Yeah, thats one of the problems i have with BvS.

If Batman was more conflicted in that movie then his killing/disregard for criminals could have been made to work. You remove his morals but keep his sanity, instead they removed his sanity by having him with the ideology that 1% chance was enough to warrant death.

@MrBullseye - Thank you! Someone else that understands more of a evil Batman than Superman. Batman's the real threat if he wanted everyone gone for good.
TheLight
TheLight - 6/18/2017, 1:46 PM
@Scarilian - But you gotta admit its more compelling and makes more sense of a story. A man constantly dabbling over the edge of sanity.
Scarilian

@TheLight -

It's not compelling to see a Batman without morals losing his sanity because he then loses himself as Batman.

They even picked the Doomsday symbol from SV!!!

This attention to details pleases me!

You know all those people that say there's too much Batman? I usually disagree but here.....they're 100% correct. This is so stupid that I'm almost embarrassed that I've ever read comics.

@Parker00 - you can never have too much batman.

@JohnGrayson - That's what I'm saying, I'd normally be right there with you but this is just a bit much!

@Doomsday8888 - Admittedly, this article is the extent of my knowledge. However, if the idea sounds this stupid to me.....I don't believe there's any conversion to be had here. By the by, I am not trying to insult anybody that's psyched for this, more power to you!
Parker00
Parker00 - 6/17/2017, 2:43 PM
@Desrow - Okay, imagine that you already have a rapport of defending comics as worthwhile entertainment to your father. Now, try to explain this stuff to him and tell me you seriously expect to win the argument, haha!
OozyOrifice
OozyOrifice - 6/18/2017, 5:12 AM
@Doomsday8888 - huge batman fan, but this sounds stupid. I don't know anything about it except this article though. Do you has some sort of info I'm missing that can reassure me?
Doomsday8888
Doomsday8888 - 6/18/2017, 5:54 AM
@OozyOrifice -
Well what i was trying to say is that out of aaall the other situations, considering this is a Bat-centric event, written by Bat-Writers (Like Snyder, Tynion) that aims to be a sort of sequel of what they've done with Batman in the post-reboot...
Saying stuff like "there's too much Batman" doesn't make any sense or let's just say that in this particular case it's completely acceptable.

You don't go to a liquor store to buy some candy! :p

as for the concept of this storyline, that's a different matter and it's subjective, and tbh we don't know, like, what do they exactly mean by a "Bat-hybrid"?
Is that some trashy thing like what Marvel is doing with Hulkverine or we're talking about something Venomesque?
Is that a bad thing? If yes, than why?
It all comes do this Dark Matter concept that they still have to explore, depending on that this could turn out to be good or bad.
I hope i've been of some help!

OozyOrifice - 6/18/2017, 6:40 AM
@Doomsday8888 - I didn't see Scott's name up there, maybe I missed it.

If he is orchestrating this: count me in. He's actually my favorite all-time writer, barely beating out Geoff johns.
OozyOrifice
OozyOrifice - 6/18/2017, 6:41 AM
But yeah, wtf does bat hybrid mean? Are these all Bruce Waynes? Or do all these characters just act like batman?
Doomsday8888
Doomsday8888 - 6/18/2017, 7:09 AM
@OozyOrifice -
My feeling is that...he basically brainwashed them, i could be wrong tho, but there is a nightmare sequence in the first prologue issue that hints at a world ruled by Batman.
An evil Batman.
Obi2
Obi2 - 6/17/2017, 2:23 PM
oK but what's going on with these 3 jokers, when are we getting more info on that??
Doomsday8888
Doomsday8888 - 6/17/2017, 2:27 PM
@Obi2 -
Not in this event storyline, my friend.
We will have to wait until...November i guess?
The almighty Geoff Johns will be the one to tell that story.
No one else has that privilege!
rabid
rabid - 6/17/2017, 3:51 PM
@Obi2 - I just presumed the 3 Joker's are PreCrisis, PostCrisis, and New52. That giant tuning fork could mean we'll see them all together soon.

Hopefully other characters will get a
one-shot too. I'd love to see what they could do with Blue Beetle (Kord), Plastic Man, B'Wana Beast, Static, Booster Gold, Martian Manhunter, Bloodwynd, Zatanna, and John Constantine
