When DC Rebirth kicked off, there were plenty of titles and characters that were relaunched in the hopes of renewing interest from fans. However, there were some books that ended up being cancelled rather than relaunched. Among the list of cancelled series was Catwoman.
Thankfully, fans of the feline fatale were able to watch Selina Kyle have an important role in Tom King's Batman. Yet, there were those hoping the morally flexible Kyle would get her own book.
Fortunately, during their time at C2E2, DC comics announced, to the joy of many fans, that they will be releasing a new Catwoman series this July. The upcoming series will be written and illustrated by Eisner Award winner Joëlle Jones (Batman) with Laura Allred (iZombie) acting as the book's colorist. Finally, to commemorate the announcement DC has released the artwork for the first issue's cover.
The cover for issue #1 sees Selina Kyle sans her iconic costume, and holding the cover of Batman #50, which is set to release the same day. That issue will see Selina and Bruce finally tie the knot, so it's possible we'll see the events of that issue impact the story of Catwoman #1.
