COMICS: First Look At DAMIAN: SON OF BATMAN

He's not coming back to life...at least, not exactly! This new miniseries from Andy Kubert will actually take place in a "what if" future, but it still may still eventually tie in to the resurrection of the character. Click on for an unlettered preview..

As any Bat-fan will know, young Damian Wayne was killed off fairly recently in Batman Incorporated #8 and there have been no signs that DC plan a resurrection for the character, until now. But, Damian: Son of Batman -- which will be written and drawn by Andy Kubert -- will be set in a "possible future that may never be," so won't actually be canon with the current New 52 universe..for the time being! If DC do ever intend to bring back the character this could of course serve as a gateway to do it. The story will spin off from Batman #666, which featured an adult version of Damian operating as Batman.

Damian Wayne, the son of Batman, has adopted the cape and cowl as his own…but what horrific events set this troubled hero on the path of his dark destiny? It’s a possible future that may never be in this epic miniseries written and drawn by one of Damian’s co-creators, Andy Kubert!

I'm NOT hating, I'm just thrown it out there . . .
I thought the WHOLE reason for the NEW 52 was to get rid of the overly complicated DC Universe of multiple worrlds and divergent time lines.
Now we're getting what is ESSENTIALLY an imaginary story . . ?
That clears things up. Why didn't they just smack an ElseWorlds label on it?

On the flip side – Kubert's art (AS ALWAYS) is awesome to behold!

I had Andy as a teacher last year. I saw the inks for that double spread in class. This is going to be awesome.

@Wombraider
Who are you? lol. This is Damien from third year.

I look at this as the Post-Final Crisis continuum and not the New52 continuum.

Man, no matter how badass you make Robin that classic costume is just so, well, queer. Why would anyone wear that? You can't have red and green AND yellow. Crazy quilt has a better costume.

If you missed out on Batman # 666, do yourself a favor and
keep avoiding it. Or pick it up if you want to read just one issue that perfectly encapsulates what's wrong with Morrison's Batman. (And I'm not a full-time Morrison hater; I like a lot of his stuff, even New X-Men.)

@rexdart. Really? W/o sounding "queer" yourself, tell us: why can't someone wear red, green AND yellow?

Why would they even count Batman incorporated something that was pre52. Damien was a great character with time he could've grown into a better character. Incorporated wasn't even good imo.

@ Scabsallover: It's fine if you want to wear red, green and yellow if you're on the Ganjaman, the Rasta Crusada. But as a costumed vigilante? And the goddamn Batman's partner? It's ludicrous.
