COMICS: Frank Cho REALLY Hates Superman
Frank Cho recreates two pages from Frank Miller's seminal comic, "The Dark Knight Returns", complete with dialogue, captions, and even sound effects. Check out the pages, and what Frank has to say about Superman.
A heads up to fellow Superman fans, you might not like what you see.
Frank Cho isn't a Superman fan, and he's not shy about it either.
"I hate Superman. I think Superman is a boring and moronically simple character. From his Kryptonite weakness to his silly disguise with the eyeglasses, Superman is an ill-conceived character. Just because he’s the first superhero doesn’t mean he’s a good character. And don’t get me started on him crying on every other comic book cover."
Ouch, and if that isn't bad enough, Frank recreated two pages from "The Dark Knight Returns", while putting his own twist on the sequence to make things all the more humiliating for Superman.
Check it out.
Superman fans need not worry about Frank Cho humiliating the hero again, as he said "To tell you the truth, I had a great time drawing this. But I can honestly say that this will probably will be the last Superman art I draw."
Frank drew the piece for a friend of his, a huge Superman-Batman fan that had been asking Frank to do a Superman-Batman piece for years, so that he could add it to his collection of Superman-Batman art. As you can see from the pages above, Frank finally gave in, and did the only Superman related art that would enjoy drawing.
You've got to hand it to the guy though, he visualizes his hatred of one of the biggest superheroes in the world, and gets paid to it.
