When we last left Aquaman he wasn't sure if he wanted to be king of Atlantis anymore and ended the issue with his wife Mera embracing him. Thanks to Hero Complex we have our first look at the follow up to Aquaman's solo title written by Geoff Johns with art by Ivan Reis. Still with the jokes? How long can they keep making the same joke over and over again?

Oh, wait... It's Johns, nevermind...

@rbfn04 - then u haven't read many books ... swamp thing, deadman, animal man, stormwatch and all star western are all top notch books, very well written. @ least for pop books - clearly the verigos and independents are the best

Looking forward to this one. Johns has done a fantastic job at really bringing Aquaman and Mera back into the spotlight. Plus it's just been great writing! :)

@Super Argo, Agreed. Namor is the only comic character that can make water/ocean powers look awesome.

i want Aquaman to be good, I know i'm in a minority but I like him. It's just hard to write something to do with the water or oceans every month.
HelaGood
HelaGood - 10/20/2011, 11:59 AM
@brewtownpsych agreed, BUT you cannot compare this book with ANYTHING Vertigo...no way.

You know I've always said that Aquaman should basically be Namor without the Fin/Wings and ability to fly, and less of a chip on his shoulder. But otherwise he definitely should be treated with the same kind of respect. I'm liking this new take.

@SuperArgo- Daaaayummmm! Prince Namor for FTW!
Plus Sub-Mariner's got good taste in woman.

*Moreover, never understood why a guy needs to wear big, baggy-a** gloves under water anyway.

I actually think Aquaman #1 was the best of all the other new #1s I've read.

Can't wait for the next issues.

@Nomis, I too have enjoyed this series so far, but I have to say the best of the new 52 has been Batman.

@Gaston ha, exactly Green and Orange FTW!

And guess what people? I like Namor, Aspen and Aquaman.
It's not a one or the other world. You can LIKE both Marvel AND DC. Imagine that.

namor (1939)
aquaman (1941)

namor was kicking ass two years before aquaman came out (of the closet).

haha everytime i come on this site its always the same marvelites writing on the DC pages. Pathetic how both DC and Marvel fanboys rip apart fictional comic book characters as if it matters so much. But its good for a laugh i guess

you forgot too mention, how the cry babies at dc wouldn't take part in the marvel vs dc storyline unless superman & batman won their fights.

also you do relize that storyline isn't cannon & what with the new dc reboot probably never even took place.

He needs to look.... Older! The way he did in that Justice League Unlimited series. Lose the arm, grow some more hair, and age faster!
