Bleeding Cool is a reliable source for comic book news, but this latest rumour is likely to leave you questioning...everything! Apparently, as part of the Infinite Frontier publishing initiative (which is yet another semi-reboot of the DC Universe), Black Adam is getting a new name: Shazadam.
No, it's not April Fool's Day.
The site doesn't have any specifics on why Black Adam will start calling himself Shazadam, but believe it could be because DC Comics is looking to portray the character in a more heroic light.
That's something the publisher has pushed hard in recent years, and we know that he'll be leading the Justice League in Brian Michael Bendis' upcoming take on the title. Renaming such a big name superhero when they have a high-profile movie in the works is definitely a strange decision, but we can't imagine Dwayne Johnson suddenly hyping "Shazadam" on social media moving forward!
This could just be temporary, of course, and there may be a very good reason for the change. There's definitely been something of an outcry online, and that could lead to DC heading down a different route. It's probably too late for that, though, so stay tuned as we'll no doubt learn more on this soon.
How do you feel about Black Adam becoming Shazadam?
