In what the publisher describes as "part of DC's year-long global celebration of Batman’s 80th anniversary," the landmark comic Detective Comics #1000 celebrates the special occasion with an extra-sized issue, an all star line-up of famous writers and artists, and the integration of an all-new iteration of the Arkham Knight into mainstream DC Universe canon. It will be released in a 96-page collector's edition, with some of the features and stories including:

  • Original story from the Batman: Arkham Knight - Genesis team Peter J. Tomasi and Doug Mahnke, introducing a canon Arkham Knight
  • Two-page spread by artist Jason Fabok (Detective Comics), representing the current status quo of the Batman comics
  • Original story by writer Kevin Smith (Batman: The Widening Gyre) and artist Jim Lee (Batman: Hush, All Star Batman & Robin)
  • Original story by writer Brian Michael Bendis (Batman 100-page Giant) and artist Alex Maleev (Batman: Road to No Man's Land)
  • Original story by writer Warren Ellis (Planetary/Batman) and artist Becky Cloonan (Batman: Court of Owls - Epilogue)
  • Original story by writer Paul Dini and artist Dustin Nguyen (Batman: Heart of Hush)
  • A sequel to the 1976 story There's No Hope in Crime Alley by writer Dennis O'Neil and artist Steve Epting
  • Original story by writer Christopher Priest (Justice league: Tower of Babel) and artist Neal Adams (Joker's Five Way Revenge)
  • Original story by writer Geoff Johns (Batman: Earth One, Three Jokers) and artist Kelley Jones (Batman: Knightfall, Endgame)
  • Original story by Tom King (Grayson, Batman: The Wedding), Tony S. Daniel (Batman: Battle for the Cowl), and Joëlle Jones (Catwoman)
  • Original story by writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo (Batman: Court of Owls, Death of the Family)
