Since this is my first DCEU article on here, I’m going to keep it pretty simple and mainly focus on things that we know we will be getting in upcoming years ahead.  I plan on writing more articles in the future that focus more on speculation and things that I want to see in the DCEU, but DC and Warner Brothers are doing a great job of keeping fans like me happy, so those articles may not be needed.

The Villains

Villains, DC has them and their not afraid to use them.  From Lex Luthor to The Joker, and Brainiac to Darkseid, DC’s Villains represent some of the best and biggest baddies in all of comics.

Next year we will be getting The Joker and Lex Luthor on the big screen and for the first time ever they will exist in the same Universe.  From the trailers alone, it is obvious that we will be watching something that we’ve never seen before on the big screen.

One of the things that I’m looking forward to the most as the DCEU carries on is watching Lex Luthor and other villains react to the actions of the Joker and seeing all of these amazing characters interact together.  The heroes are going to have to be on their A game, which brings me to the next thing on my list….

Batman

Aside from a less than stellar conclusion, the TDK Trilogy was great and will go down in history as the “Godfather” of CBM Trilogies.  Nolan did an amazing job, but one thing that was lacking was his inability to truly embrace the comics due to his more realistic take on the characters and on the Batman mythos in general.

For the first time ever, we are going to see a Batman on screen, set in the more serious tone of Nolan’s films (Not Schumacher’s, Thank God) that will fully embrace the comics in a Universe where anything is possible.

The fantastical elements of stories like Hush, Court of Owls, The Dark Knight Returns, Killing Joke, Under The Hood, and even Knightfall are all possible now, the DCEU won’t be restricted on the big screen, and in an age where CGI and Visual Effects are better than ever, I expect to see some amazing things.

Superman

The origin has been told and now it’s time for the writers, directors, and actors to start having some fun.  As seen in the trailer, Clark Kent will play a role in Batman v Superman, and we will finally see Superman’s secret identity trying to hide amongst the masses and working at the Daily Planet.

Aside, from Kent, I’m also really excited to see Superman evolve in the DCEU.  One of the reasons that I love Man of Steel is because it sets up the DCEU and Superman’s character perfectly.  Not only will we get to see Superman learn from his mistakes and become a better and more effective hero but we will also get to see the world’s reaction to the terrifying events that took place in Man of Steel.

The aftermath of Man of Steel will play a major role in Batman v Superman, and I feel like this is an amazing way to tell a story and to truly connect the movies and characters together.

We will also get to see how all of this has effected Ma Kent and we will see a hero that is coming to terms with the concept that although he is the most powerful being on the planet, he cannot save everyone.  We will get to see how all of those years of maturing before donning the suit and cape have made him a stronger individual and prepared him for the challenges ahead.

Wonder Woman

I swore I wouldn’t mention Marvel in this, but, I have too…. by the time Civil War hits Theatres, Marvel would have released 13 movies and not one of those movies is based on a female character.  DC on the other hand will release Wonder Woman as their 3rd addition to the DCEU and with a talented cast and director, you can tell that DC will be taking this adaptation seriously.

Aquaman

We have never seen a character like Aquaman on the big screen, especially not with the visual effects that we have available today.  We have also never seen an actor with as much presence as Jason Momoa take on this iconic character.  I have faith in Momoa, and if you have read Aquaman comics, you know that the King of The Seven Seas and the ruler of Atlantis is definitely a force to be reckoned with.  I can’t wait to finally see DC/WB do the character and the name justice on the big screen.

The Flash

This movie has so much potential.  Based on the reception from the Flash CW Tv show, It’s obvious that fans care about and relate to the characters that exist in Flash’s universe and mythos.  The big screen version of the Flash will take this to the next level.  The Flash, Professor Zoom, and the Speed Force existing within the DCEU is more than enough to get me hyped for this movie and hopefully franchise.

Cyborg

This movie has the potential to be absolutely amazing.  The story of Cyborg’s origin is heartbreaking, motivating, emotional, and fun (Yes, I said the F word), Cyborg’s story could also be very relatable because it deals with a lot of family issues as well.

This could also be a horror-esque CBM, because Victor’s initial transformation is truly horrifying.  I don’t want to spoil the whole story but if you haven’t read any Cyborg titles yet, check them out, also check out Cyborg’s long history with Teen Titans.

Amazing Characters that haven’t had their full potential on screen yet

Catwoman

Cyclone

Blue Beetle and Booster Gold

Barbara Gordon

Poison Ivy

Deathstroke

Doomsday

Darkseid

Green Arrow

Black Adam

Shazam

Mr Freeze

Penguin

Riddler

Green Lantern

Martian Manhunter

Lobo

Nightwing

The Bat Family

Maxwell Lord

Carol Ferris

Ra’s Al Ghul

Zatanna

Bane

Kate Spencer

Ray Palmer

Hugo Strange

And, many, many, many more

And of course I’m extremely excited and hyped for all of the upcoming DCEU movies

"Aside from a less than stellar conclusion, the TDK Trilogy was great and will go down in history as the “Godfather” of CBM Trilogies."
Godfather 3 was also the weak link of that trilogy, so your comparison works even better than you think.

Great Article @EricBorder

I just want to know who's playing Green Lantern...

Would be nice if we find out who the 2nd villain is in BvS....also I'm sure we'll find out who the JL villain is at the end of BvS....hopefully...

Hitman would be sick on HBO, I'm really hoping those rumors are true about Watchmen too, that could open up the door to a lot of possibilities

And, Martian Manhunter and The Question are tops for me too, I'm also hoping we see Calendar Man too, I always felt like Calendar Man would make for a great villain on a CBM Tv show, like having Calendar Man be the villain for the first season, they would probably have to switch up the hero though, because it would be hard to use Batman if it's connected to the DCEU

Still, I would love a full on Batman HBO show, where they take on arcs like A Long Halloween, that would be some good Tv

@Brainiac13

Thanks!! Same here, hopefully they'll announce something soon

I'm tempted to try and avoid all new info for B v S, so that I'm completely surprised in the Theatre, haha

I can't wait to see Brainiac on the big screen too, I think that could fit really well in the next full on Superman movie, depending on how the stories unravel

Nice article @EricBorder

I have this sinking feeling that Superman is going to get the short end of the stick when it comes to these movies, given the rumors that WB is putting Superman sequels on the back burner (in favor of a NEW Batman trilogy? blegh). Which is a huge shame since Superman is probably my favorite DC character.

We'll see, though ... hopefully I'm wrong.

Thanks! We'll see, I actually have a feeling that Superman will play a huge part in the Justice League movies too, and that we will really get to see a different side of him as these movies progress and as the DCEU evolves

Great article my good man! Thumbs up!

And I 100% agree with you on Flash, so much untapped potential with the Scarlet Speedster! Snyder is going to make the Flash a beast, and on top of that he's going to get a bad ass suit! Can't wait to see how he tops that Faora speed demon scene.

Great article, I'm really excited about Lex and the Joker (among others) in the same universe. And good point about Aquaman and the CGI, they could really do some cool stuff with him.
DrKinsolving

@dethpillow

Oh definitely, haha, Chronicle was great for all that stuff, they really got the villain right and all that Apex Predator stuff, and I liked how it was such a natural progression for him to become evil. I want to rewatch it again soon.

Those impulsive decisions are cool like your saying, and I think other "Bad Days" are really interesting. If you go outside one day and the world just shits on you and you didn't do anything to deserve it, you know, and those situations are usually pretty rare because most of the time there is some cause and effect, but when there is no explanation, then that could really, really change somebody.

I feel like that's what Joker would do in his spare time, when he's not busy with Batman, or if he's just bored. He would indirectly make people have the worst day of their lives, and see if they would break bad, then he would jump out at their breaking point and tell them it's all a joke, even though he just ruined their lives. And, it would be such a beautiful thing in the most demented way, because he would really just be trying to have a connection with someone else. That's why him and Harley are great for each other in such a crazy way, haha. I can't wait to see that in Suicide Squad

DrKinsolving - 11/1/2015, 6:09 PM
@dethpillow

Haha, nice! It's almost like Inception, but instead of a dream within a dream, it would be like a movie within another movie or a documentary within a indie film within a blockbuster or something, ha

Nightcrawler was a great movie, loved that, great performances too, definitely a sociopath

Joker is my favorite, I love that "One Bad Day" mentality and I really love the "It's all a Joke" line he has, you know, like "Why are you so upset, none of this is real" stuff like that, I like how surprising he is and how much of an underdog he is to everyone too, until he opens his mouth or completely outsmarts you, ha, but underneath it all he's really just searching for somebody or for a connection, like he does with Batman

That would be crazy, I was actually thinking about adding Elongated Man and Sue Dibny to the list, not sure if Elongated Man would work on the big screen or if they would have to switch up the characters if they adapt it
