SPOILERS: DOOMSDAY CLOCK #3 Delivers Some Of The Event's Most Shocking Twists And Turns To Date

This month's issue of Doomsday Clock featured some of the event's biggest surprises yet as the worlds of the Watchmen and DC Universe continue to collide. So, hit the jump to find out what went down...

At the end of Doomsday Clock #2, The Comedian made a very unexpected return in Gotham City to confront Ozymandias and stop him from learning more about Dr. Manhattan's location. In issue #3, things kick off with Eddie Blake falling from the skyscraper he was thrown from in Watchmen before he's suddenly teleported above the water and swims to the shore only to be met by Manhattan.

We don't learn what came next following that but he clearly saved The Comedian for a reason and that was to slow Ozymandias down. The latter is ultimately hospitalised alongside Lex Luthor while Batman gets to know Rorschach in the Batcave. The Dark Knight sits down to read the original Rorschach's journal while he makes himself at home in Wayne Manor and when he unmasks, we see that he's actually a young black man whose parents died when New York was destroyed by Ozymandias' squid.

Marionette and Mime, meanwhile, run afoul of The Joker's gang and decide to hunt down The Clown Prince of Crime. Whether or not that will explain the who three Jokers thing from DC Rebirth is unclear.

Batman goes to retrieve Rorschach, telling him that he knows where
Dr. Manhattan is. They journey to Arkham Asylum where it appears the powerful hero (villain?) has disguised himself as an inmate but when Rorschach walks into a cell to confront him, the door is closed behind him; the Dark Knight has locked him inside, clearly sure that he's insane and his story about his world are the ravings of a loon!

So, lots happened in this issue of Doomsday Clock to move the story forward and it's going to be very interesting seeing where things go from here. What did you think of the issue? Let us know below.

This series definitely has the potential to be something incredible. I can't wait until all the pieces are put together

what's with the V for Vendetta bottle?

@ODanil - it's like they are straight up trolling Alan Moore at this point. The stand-up who gets bottled is (visually) based on Stewart Lee, a real life comedian and friend of Moore's.

@DukeSimian - They even had a bunch of references to The Killing Joke in this issue. Marionette and Mime go to the same fairground. And just to rub it in, they even reference the animated version of The Killing Joke with posters for the two-headed kid and the wolfman dude (pretty sure they weren't in the original GN).

Really not a fan of bringing in so many Watchmen characters. Manhattan was one thing, I slowly let myself be convinced of a certain appeal to his involvement. And I could maybe even get behind a copycat Rorschach. But that plus Veidt? Plus Blake? Hurm.

The story could be interesting but it kinda cheapens the original Watchmen graphic novel imo.

I think Bruce is f*cked, he's about to be outed as Batman.
It was a nice issue, but not "rich" as the previous one.
That "The Adjournment" stole some pages, but not biggie.

Still no sign of Superman...aside from some panels in the first issue.

@LEVITIKUZ - You do know that quite a surprising amount of Batman villains know or have known his identity, right? Ra's al Ghul, Talia al Ghul, Riddler, Joker, Catwoman, Hugo Strange, Bane, Hush, probably Poison Ivy by now, just to name a few. Locking them up in Arkham is actually a great strategy. It's a place for the criminally insane, so even if they yell that Batman is Bruce Wayne, nobody would believe them.

Meh. Rorschach knows his secret identity. Why lock him up and leave him to talk to Arkham doctors?
As for where Manhattan is, we already know. He's beyond the Source Wall inside the Speed Force, where Deathstroke saw him in the Flash event.
So what was the shocking twist here? That Manhattan revived Comedian? That Marionette and Mime's weapons are real?
Good story, but I don't get the point of the Nathaniel Dusk movie marathon. I am however curious how Johnny Thunder figures in. Manhattan and Oz stole the 5th dimension from Mxyzptlk's race. Isn't the Thunderbolt genie also from the 5th dimension?

Story within a story like the black Freighter

Dude...Manhattan playing the The Source would be sooo f*cking cool.
That's exactly what i'm hoping, especiaclly after reading stuff like Geoff's run on GL, Morrison's Final Crisis/Multiversity.
These DC concepts are extremely fascinating to me! :D
We don't know what Slade saw during his time travel in the SP, although...seeing Manhattan would make sense, that's where i would put my money, but after reading Deathstroke...well, i'm not so sure any more.
Because Priest is not giving us any clues, so maybe it's something else entirely.

As for Rorschach in AA, Batman was talking about some temporal anomalies, it could've been a bluff just to throw the poor guy in the cell, but if you think about it, it makes sense.
Remember, Saturn Girl from the LOSH, is ALSO locked up in Arkham!
The Adjournment is supposed to be Geoff's own "Tales of the Black Freighter" just like in the Watchmen.
Also, i don't think Manhattan and Oz "stole the 5-D" although they were able to capture Mxy.
You're right about Thunderbolt tho, we'll se where it leads, possibly to JSA return.

@Doomsday8888 - We know that Deathstroke saw a blue light, and that he met the person responsible for stealing ten years and wiping old Wally from the new reality. I can't see how it could be anyone but Manhattan. And we've seen that Oz's creator was also bathed in blue light and had mastery over time and space, so I'm assuming that's also Manhattan. It all tracks with what Manhattan claimed he was going to do in the original Watchmen series... Find a universe that needed him or possibly create one.
