SPOILERS: Today's THE FLASH: REBIRTH #1 Addresses That Big WATCHMEN Mystery In Unexpected Ways

The Flash: Rebirth #1 picks up pretty much where the controversial DC Rebirth one-shot left off, revealing more about Dr. Manhattan's role in this world and The Comedian's bloodied badge...

DC Rebirth brought Wally West back from the dead and pointed to Watchmen character Dr. Manhattan as having played some sort of role in the creation of the DC Universe. However, he may have also stolen a decade's worth of history for reasons unknown, something confirmed by Wally today in The Flash: Rebirth #1 today when he tells Barry Allen that someone has also taken their memories.

Later, the Fastest Man Alive catches up with Batman, and the duo attempt to figure out why that bloodied badge mysteriously appeared in the Batcave. When we last saw it, Nite-Owl was throwing it into the grave of The Comedian (minus the blood), so something very weird is going on here. That's further explained in the panels below which come to us courtesy of Comic Book Resources.

"The Flash" Includes the First Follow-Up to DC's Surprise "Rebirth" Crossover

It appears as if this mystery is something which will play out over the next couple of years, but it definitely feels like Rebirth is the first step in taking us back to the DC Universe of old (or at least something which closely resembles it). For now, share your thoughts and theories in the usual place.

Rebirth 1 was awesome. I haven't been this enthusiastic for a comic in a long while.
