The Reflecting Hierophant Has A Question In Need Of An Answer...

Please, friends, help me settle an argument

Editorial Opinion

Me and my friend have been arguing quite a bit about who we think is the most ruthless Batman villain. I, personally, think Ra's Al Ghul, while he feels that Hugo Strange is more ruthless. So, I've created a poll to gather the opinions of the ComicBookMovie.com Public. So, please, lend me your opinion on the below poll. I will be giving this poll until January 10, so weigh in quickly.

UPDATE:
The answer we are looking for is who would do anything to torment Batman, but the villain who feels that they can only exist if Batman exists with them, making them commit ANY despicable act to ensure Bruce Wayne stays Batman.

ruthless |ˈroōθləs|
adjective
having or showing no pity or compassion for others : a ruthless manipulator.

The Joker is clearly more ruthless than either Ras or Strange.

I'd say Joker too. The other use violence with a goal in mind. Violence and chaos kind of are the primary objective for the Joker. While they don't mind it, he enjoys it.

What I mean by this poll is who would do whatever it takes to keep Batman in the "vigilante game," not just to torment him. The 5 I listed are the ones that I could see feeling like they need Batman to exist.

Yeah the only promblem with that is Ra's wants Bruce to join him he in no way thinks he can't exist without Batman. I say the Joker is the most ruthless using your definition.

@Reflecting, Ra's has been around a long time before Batman, so he doesn't feel like he needs him.

@golden123 & BIGBMH: Touche, that is definitely one point I did not factor in... I feel like a douche, lol

@Reflecting: I'm going with the Joker. but if I HAD to chose between Raz and Strange, I'd go with Strange. Raz is a noble old man, who although evil, still has a sense or order to him. From what I know of Hugo, he just has it in for batman, at whatever cost.

Joker would crack up if there was no Batman (more so than usual lol) So he does everything possible to push Batman into darker territory.
Joker needs Batman more than anyone,
Ra's went without having Batman around a loooong time, Batman just happens to be the one he respects right now.

I have a good one. Joker, cuz he killed Robin, and Ra's in fact brought Robin back through the lazarus pit. If you read death in a family. Ra's hires Joker to distract Batman while he does the bank thingy. In turn, Joker kills Robin, Ra's feels bad about this, because he didn't mean for an innocent death to occur at his hands, so he brings Robin back, creating the Red Hood. Hush, only wants to kill Bruce Wayne for having everything he didn't as a child. The Riddler's just goofy, and personally if Batman wasn't there he'd probably just torment Catwoman or something. lol. Strange, I know little about. Joker has clearly stated on more than one occasion that him and Batman are forever entwined in a game with each other, they are each others equal, and one without the other, they would simply have no reason to exist. Not too sure Bats feels the same way. But, that clearly answers the question.

This is the sort of question that gets everyone wanting to show their "underground" knowledge and suggest someone out of left field. Thing is, by your definition it is the obvious villain who wins the prize. Joker is easily the most ruthless and has the strongest connection to Batman, that's Batman, not Bruce. Plenty of villains have a personal connection to Bruce but the Joker is born out of the world Batman created and stands for the complete opposite of what Batman is trying to achieve. As for ruthlessness, Joker will kill ANYONE, from an innocent baby to his most loyal follower just because he can. He doesn't need reason, or a plan, he lives to cause chaos by any means. He'd even take his own life if it meant the ultimate torment for Batman.

I knew that Joker feels a connection with Batman, like if Batman didn't exist, Joker would lose all reason almost. But, I, personally, feel that Ra's Al Ghul, ultimately, wants the Dark Detective to continue on his quest to rid the world of all wrong-doers. I think that Ra's would do whatever it takes to 1.) Keep the Dark Knight active, so that Ra's feels he has an ally who is an equal. 2.) Make Batman is heir. I think he would do anything to show Batman that killing a criminal is justifiable, if it is for the greater good. I know that Ra's Al Ghul has given up trying to make Batman become his heir, but I just think this really sounds like something Ra's Al Ghul would do. This isn't a way for me to show my "underground" knowledge of the Batman Universe. My favorite Batman villain has always been, and always will be, Ra's Al Ghul...
