TIM DRAKE: ROBIN Comic Book Series Launching This September Following The Hero Coming Out As Bisexual

Tim Drake is back in his own ongoing series this September, Tim Drake: Robin, with writer Meghan Fitzmartin continuing the story she began last year in Batman Urban Legends alongside artist Riley Rossmo.

This September, Tim Drake's story will continue in his own series, Tim Drake: Robin. Spinning out of the events of Batman Urban Legends and the recently released Tim Drake Pride Special, writer Meghan Fitzmartin looks set to tell the next chapter of Tim's story alongside fan-favourite artist Riley Rossmo (Harley Quinn).

The kinetic, high-energy series promises to put this Robin centre stage as a mystery over a year in the making takes shape. A new villain who's been hounding Tim from afar decides to take things up close and personal, putting Bernard and everyone else Tim cares about in peril.

All that, and Tim finally carves out a corner of Gotham City just for himself, and sets up shop in his very own...murder-shack-boat?

DC Comics has also assembled a Rogues' Gallery of artists to capture all of Tim's iconic looks over the years, with a One Year Later Era variant by Jorge Jimenez, a 1:25 Debut Era variant by Sweeney Boo, a 1:50 Young Justice Era variant by Dan Mora, and a 1:100 Teen Titans Era variant by Jamal Campbell, with the main cover by Ricardo López Ortiz. You can see those below.

It's great to see Tim Drake take centre stage like this, especially after the hero recently came out as bisexual. That was considered a huge moment in the character's history, and is a creative decision that's been embraced by comic book fans. Don't fret about the DC Universe's other Robin, though, as Damian Wayne's story will continue in the pages of Batman Vs. Robin.

Tim Drake: Robin #1 arrives in comic book stores on September 27.

Cool, he hasnt had a solo book since pre flashpoint, while every other robin has gotten a self titled book

He is actually the first robin to get a solo (as Robin)

@dracula - I'm pretty sure Tim had a New 52 on-going, and was the lead character in Batman Beyond for awhile.

Companies like DC want to so desperately show how 'down-with-the-cause' they are but, they never fully commit.

Why not SUPERMAN himself? (Instead of his son?)
Any not BATMAN himself? (Instead of the 3rd generation of Robin?)

A new Tim Drake series!?

...written by Meghan Fitzmartin?

Why do they keep giving that garbage writer more chances to ruin one of my favourite characters?

@Superspecialawesomeguy - probably because they're easier to get, if the good writers create something for the Big 2 they risk not getting paid proper recognition or if that creation gets used for movies/tv

@dragon316 - It's interesting, because both characters are bi, but DC is just extremely focused on the homoesexual relationship part of it. I'm a bi dude myself, but I learned that for myself while in a relationship with a woman, and would never leave her just because I came out. Which is kind of what ended up happening with Tim. It's weird that the writers rarely acknowledge the heterosexual relationships when a Character comes out as Bi.

“Following The Hero Coming Out As Bisexual”

You could have just left it at September, Josh. But no, this was placed in the headline to drum up the usual suspects and generate controversial traffic and clicks, wasn’t it? Well you got it, just take a look at almost every comment prior to mine.

@dragon316 - Replace every “gay” with “straight” in this run on, and come back tell me how it actually changes anything you just said. Because the exact same can be said about the straight characters and couples, same stunts and all.

Would have been easier and straight to the point to just say you’re homophobic.

I couldn’t care less about his sexuality (though I find it very…. pandering that he came out conveniently in times where gender/sexuality are such hot topics ). But After the duos mediocre Harley Quinn run I won’t be buying this.
