Is there a movie to follow the Saiyan Saga trailer?
"The short answer is no. The long answer is that when we made that trailer, we never intended to go straight on to make a movie. This is because a movie would cost millions of dollars and we're actually a small studio in the UK. But, thanks to you guys, and thanks to the success of the video we've almost 7 million views. We were able to showcase the need and the want for a Dragon Ball live action adaptation. So, thanks to the trailer, we've been able to be put in contact with some big companies that can help us move forward with a live action web series or movie".
Why don't you set up a Kickstarter and accept donations?
"We really appriciate that question and that offer that you'd like to donate for us to make a series. The issue is what it always has been. We don't own the live action rights to Dragon Ball Z. So, if we were to do a large Kickstarter, it may get shut down. Now, we were actually planning on raising $250,000 for a high-end live action web series. But, after seeing several high profile Kickstarters get shut down because the people didn't own the rights to the products they wanted to make videos for, we realized we didn't want to take that risk. Let's say that we raise $250,000, we're halfway through production, and suddenly we get shut down. And we've spent your money and can't return it to you. So, what we've been doing is concentrating all our efforts on getting the rights to live action Dragon Ball Z so that we can move forward confidently and don't have to worry about that issue."
What happened to the money from the Saiyan Saga trailer?
"For those of you that don't know, we raised the amount of money on Indiegogo to make the trailer. Now, we actually raised twice the amount that we needed. So we think some people assume that we kind of just kept the extra money or spent it on other videos. But we wanted to assure you guys that all that money was spent on the trailer. To put some of the cost into perspective, Our daily cost of on location was roughly $2000 and we were there for multiple days. We had a cast and crew of roughly twenty people and they had to be fed and put in hotels. And also, we wen to Pinewood Studios which was $3000 a day. So you can see how the amounts quickly add up with how the money was spent. So, we just wanted to assure you guys again that all that money was spent on the Saiyan Saga trailer. And while I have the opportuny, I just wanted to say a huge 'thank you' to everyone that donated their time. And we wouldn't have been able to do it without you guys so I want to say a huge 'thank you' again."
K&K Productions went on to describe how the constant delays and the long gaps between update videos were attributed to a falling out with their VFX collaborators. With no visual effects team, K&K opted to make the Goku and Frieza teaser videos themselves.
They also established that their plans to make a live-action web series was still talks to happen. If/when they are able to aquire the rights from Fox, they plan to begin the web series from the Saiyan Saga. For that reason they've decided to halt production on the Frieza Saga trailer until the live-action rights are obtained. Though this may disappoint some fans, they ensured that they still plan to make DBZ videos in the future, just not particularly about the Freiza Saga.
