The hits keep coming. Last week Marvel Comics themed event showcasing album covers of various hip hop artists hit the half way point. It has been a resounding success producing some inspired pieces, with my personal favorite being the Nas/Miles Morales Spider-Man variant.

We have seen some great stuff but many hip hop fans have expressed disappointment over the fact that their favorite artist or album still hasn’t been shown any love. Well no need to worry Marvel has begun the trip down the backside of 50 with four new covers so your favorite still has a chance.

Possibly taking advantage of the release of the NWA bio-pic we get a take on the group’s groundbreaking album Straight Outta Compton with a variant of A-Force #1 well played Marvel.  Other covers feature homages to Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday, Slick Ricks The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five’s The Message, bringing the grand total to 28.

Last week there was a bit of confusion on whether all the covers had been released. So I’ve included a tweet from the man behind the project Axel Alonso, Marvel Editor-in-Chief that clears up the picture. Take a look at the new variants and the original covers pictured below, and keep your eye out for the final 22.

N.W.A’s Straight Outta Compton, A-Force #1, artist Adam Hughes
Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday , Angela: Queen of Hel #1, artist Annie Wu
Slick Rick’s The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, Spider-Gwen, artist Humberto Ramos
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five’s The Message, New Avengers #1, artist Ed Piskor

Spider-Gwen is the best of the bunch, and A-Force is pretty good.

Hip Hop is not my first music of choice as well, but I do own a few of these albums and a track or two from others. I mentioned it in another one of these article that I would like Marvel to explore Punk albums after they complete this project. I'd prefer Punk over rock because of their underground nature similar to some of these hip hop albums.

LMAO @ Marvel, for pandering a gimmick to an audience who mostly doesn't even like said art form. Meanwhile, how's those Black writers coming?

Oh that's right, Marvel doesn't have any.

Hip Hop got ruined when a certain group of people hijacked the genre like they did Rock and Jazz. LOL! :P
