BLOOD HUNT: Marvel Comics Unveils Epic New Cover Art For Upcoming Avengers vs. Vampires Crossover Event

Marvel Comics announced plans for its next big crossover event, Blood Hunt, back in October and we now have a jaw-dropping new cover which depicts Blade and the Avengers who will go to war with vampires...

Marvel Comics announced its next crossover event, Blood Hunt, at this past October's New York Comic Con. The event, which launches in May, will be written by current Avengers and Moon Knight scribe Jed MacKay and illustrated by X-Men artist Pepe Larraz.

"Who will bite it?" was recently revealed as Blood Hunt's tagline, suggesting at least some of Earth's Mightiest Heroes will become bloodsuckers as vampires emerge from the shadows like never before.

This has to be leading to some sort of Marvel Vampires spin-off, right?

We'll see, but across the main limited series, tie-in issues, and spinoff limited series, we'll get to experience our favourite heroes falling helpless to the dark ways of the creatures of the night, all while bravely overcoming their tempting ways. United with a single vision for the first time in millennia, the overwhelming army of bloodsucking terrors will transform the world in their image by turning the lights off across the Marvel Universe.

However, in order to turn them back on, a new world order may need to be put in place!

Today, we have some brand new cover art to share with you which was illustrated by Kael Ngu. He's lent his talents to a whole heap of characters over the years, including Daredevil, Deadpool, Ironheart, and Spawn, and this might be one of his best covers to date.

Contained within Blade's silhouette, we see heroes like Doctor Strange, Tigra, Thor, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, and the new Moon Knight.

"I think vampires are a very fun part of the Marvel Universe," MacKay explained earlier this month. "You can enjoy them on a surface level as adding a little spookiness to a book, or you can get as deep as you like into the long-running Marvel history of vampires, which is as elaborate as any other part of it...and the fact that Dracula is there is a source of endless delight!"

"Blood Hunt is just the latest chapter in the long-running vampire mythos of Marvel vampires - and they're stepping out of the darkness in a big way."

We're definitely intrigued to see where this story is heading and what sort of impact it has on the wider Marvel Universe moving forward. Stay tuned in the new year for more information about this upcoming Marvel Comics crossover event.

The first BLADE, to this day, has the best superhero opening of any of the comicbook movies out there.

@lazlodaytona -

I do agree but I would like to challenge you with...

The Nightcrawler in the white house scene from X-Men 2 is up there as well.

@marvel72 - damn it

@lazlodaytona - Both are great but I couldn't pick from either.

The music in both scenes is great,how Blade is introduced is just classic.

@marvel72 @lazlodaytona - Those two are classics. To propose a third option, Days of Future Past was also great.

And it’s even better with the animated theme song playing behind it.

@lazlodaytona - They are all great options. The funny thing is that there is no MCU movie that has as amazing intro as these three. Probably my #1 is Winter Soldier. Cap taking out Batroc’s ship was also pretty amazing.

@mountainman - Yeah that's a good one as well.

I may even put the young Eric (Magneto) concertraion camp opening scene in the first X-Men.

@mountainman - Yeah The Winter Soldier opening is great.

What about Avengers:Infinity War?

@mountainman - Also Avengers:Age Of Ultron and The Dark Knight.

@marvel72 - All good ones. Can’t believe I forgot about Age of Ultron. That was an amazing example of the team working together.

Infinity War is a great open, but it just doesn’t have the level of action that many of these others we are mentioning.

And Dark Knight is great too, it just didn’t register to me as it was more a bank robbery and less a superhero scene.

@marvel72 - i remember seeing that in theaters and being like😵‍💫 lol that and when the school gets attacked. I don't like the foxmen movies too much but they got nightcrawler pretty much perfect

Another unimaginative modern comic book cover. No action, no motion, no 'story' to tell. Everyone doing nothing but posing.

Pepe Larraz is brilliant. Might have to pick this up for the art alone.
