After making her debut in the pages of Free Comic Book Day: Avengers/X-Men earlier this year, Brielle Brooks, the daughter of Blade, will headline her own series next February.

Bloodline: Daughter of Blade looks set to reunite the character's creators, writer Danny Lore and artist Karen S. Darboe, for a five-issue saga that serves as Brielle's fascinating origin story and her thrilling journey to becoming Marvel's next great anti-hero.

Not only will we witness Brielle develop shocking new vampiric powers, but we'll also find out exactly where she stands with her iconic father and whether she’ll live up to his legacy or give in to her dangerous new hunger.

In the series, Brielle Brooks is a good kid, no matter what her teachers say; it's not her fault she's developing vampiric superpowers and the undead want to brawl. And as if problems at school aren’t enough, Bri's got a wild ride ahead of her...she's about to discover she’s the daughter of the infamous vampire hunter and Daywalker known as Blade!

Now, Marvel Comics has released the cover for issue #1 by Superior Spider-Man and Venom artist Ryan Stegman.

"One of my earliest Marvel memories is watching Blade with my father, and being in awe of how intensely cool the Daywalker is," Lore says. "Over the years I’ve only grown to love Blade even more. Brielle ‘Bloodline’ Brooks is literally the child of a dual legacy in that way: both Blade’s long history, and my personal comic legacy."

"When you guys join us on this journey, I hope you find a part of yourself in Brielle’s story."

Brielle is a character who was originally supposed to debut several years ago before being shelved. There were rumblings Blade's daughter would be the focus of the Daywalker's upcoming movie, though that was a long time ago and no longer appears to be the case.

Bloodline: Daughter of Blade #1 arrives in comic book stores next February.

I really hope they don’t introduce her in the first film. At least wait until a sequel. Ali is going to crush this role!

@Gmoney84 - assuming Ali doesn't quit first. It's apparently been a rough process and he's been very frustrated by the production, especially after losing the original director.

In the environment today, this is cool. Instead of making Blade a woman, just make a new character. It works out for everyone. Hopefully, this is cool enough to stick around for the long run.
