COMICS: CAPTAIN AMERICA & BUCKY HAWKEYE Launches This April

It has today been revealed that Marvel will be dropping the Bucky part of Captain America & Bucky as of issue #629, replacing him with Hawkeye for four issues. Iron Man and Black Widow are set to follow soon after. Just in time for The Avengers!

Marvel today announced that Captain America & Bucky will become Captain America & Hawkeye as of this April. Cullen Bunn will write the "new" series while Alessandro Vitti will be on art duties. "I'm a huge Captain America fan. As a much younger writer, Hawkeye was one of the characters I loved the most. So I jumped all over this," said Bunn of the new series. Between being on the roster of Avengers, Avengers Academy , Secret Avengers and now this book, it seems like Hawkeye is just as busy as Wolverine these days! Have no fear though as the change in title will last for only four issues before changing once again and teaming Cap with someone else.

"The simple way to describe the first arc is that Captain America and Hawkeye go out and fight a bunch of dinosaurs. That's how I pitched it. Cap and Hawkeye have gone through so much together, but they have a very different approach to how they do things. I wanted to explore that relationship and how they see each other. In many ways Clint really admires Cap and they're best of friends, but they get under each others' skins like nobody else. I love my brothers, I'd do anything for them, but they drive me nuts sometimes. I channeled a lot of that into this book." Both Black Widow and Iron Man will appear in the book (good timing considering the release of The Avengers, eh?) although we'll also see Cap team-up with some non-Avengers too.

No, Hawkeye looks like shit. Bring back the purple tights.

I heard a rumor that after this series they're gonna print out "Captain America & Mark Ruffalo".

This is stupid. I knew somehow Marvel would try to promote the Avengers movie with comic books. Im fine with a movie comic book tie-in(which Marvel will do) so why do something dumb like this.

There are plenty of other ways to promote the movie. They can release an actual poster for the movie for starters. The one with the big A dont count as a poster. They can release more stills(not the same ones with Cap and Thor standing next to each other) they can also release a new trailer!!!

You know with all the great ways they promoted Iron man 1 and 2 Hulk Thor and Cap you would think they would be going out like crazy promoting the Avengers. With less then 4 months until it comes out Marvel is not doing a great job at all!!!

The way Cap's pointing, I imagine he's saying "Put an arrow in THAT guy's ass".

They're just trying to give him some "screen time" to make him more popular for the movie so he's not "that guy", which is really a moot point, because the only people who would pick up a Cap&Hawk book are the people who like Cap and Hawk.

Seriously, they are doing this to Bucky again? Why not just make a Hawkeye/Black Widow Book? They seem to work well in EMH.

I agree with spectre88, Black Widow and Hawkeye or Mockingbird and Hawkeye again, since the Widow will be in Bucky's book.

Hawkeye looks like such a douche in that picture...the new costume is underwhelming. If they're going to given him black and purple, it needs to be like his House of M costume, like luckylu put. Just some modifications (change M on the cowl back to H) and it'd rock.

@CaptainProg, I've never seen anyone look so disturbing, yet so gleefully happy in my entire life.

But yeah, not a fan of that costume.

Geez, there's just no pleasing some of you guys. Some of y'all complain about how swashbuckler Hawkeye's classic duds look, then complains about his modernized look. I for one think it looks cool and is with the times. If there's anyone that needs a modern makeover, it's Cap. Make it look more like his suit from The Avengers movie, but in comic book form.

I will always love the classic look but hawkeye is the mother[frick]in man. The new costume might not be awesome, but if u don't support the character. Clint is gonna go right back to guest apperances, instead of staring in books. But with that said, they totally coulda designed a better costume for him.

Hawkeye's new look not only appears to be extremely gay, he is rendered in this shot as having the male pattern baldness of a 50 year old. Nice going once again with the art direction there Marvel.
