COMICS: DAREDEVIL Creative Team Mark Waid And Chris Samnee To Take Over CAPTAIN AMERICA Post SECRET EMPIRE

Steve Rogers is currently terrorising the Marvel Universe in Secret Empire but once the event comes to a close, Captain America will be handled by the amazing creative team of Mark Waid and Chris Samnee.

For the past couple of years, Captain America has been in a very dark place. Revealed as a Hydra agent thanks to the machinations of a Cosmic Cube wielding Red Skull, Steve Rogers has become a villain with Secret Empire delving into the formerly patriotic Avenger's attempt to control of the Marvel Universe.

Well, it appears as if Marvel will be taking Cap back to basics this November as it's been revealed that the Eisner Award-winning team of writer Mark Waid and artist Chris Samnee (who paired up on Daredevil and Black Widow) are coming together to take over the series from issue #695. It's also been made official by Waid himself that it's going to be Steve Rogers who is suited up as Captain America.

"Steve is kind of tired of being the couch-surfer of the Marvel Universe, he’s never really had a place to call his own other than Avengers Mansion," Waid explains, promising an epic road trip. "This is him getting back in touch with Captain America, learning how people perceive Captain America in light of Secret Empire." He went on to add we're getting the "Steve Rogers that we know and love."

Based on their work in Daredevil, this creative team is going to be just what Captain America needs in the wake of Secret Empire. It's good to see Cap back in the classic costume with his original shield!

Kinda pissed about this.
I wanted Spencer to redeem Cap, now everyone will remember him as the guy who came just to f*ck with the character...

I also have a feeling that he had more to say, the he was going to keep Hydra Cap even after SE, but then Legacy happened, and Hydra Cap is a big no-no.
So what the hell.

Everything he did up to SE is just one big story. One big PART of the story that is...
There was still so much more to say and explore goddammit.

I can't really blame Marvel for doing what they're doing, coz this change is needed, their MarvelYou lasted quite a bit, and ppl just want to see their favorite heroes doing what they do best, it's understandable, but still...

@Doomsday8888 - Huh... a complaint about Marvel Comics that doesn't involve the phrasing "All of Marvel is just trash now." or any of it's alternatives. That's nice. Today was nice. Anyway, I'm game to see what these guys at least do with it, y'know? Should be, at the very least, interesting.

@Madniz -
Rumor has it, they will stick for 5 or 6 issues, than we'll have a new creative team.
What are they going to do in these issues?
Same thing Spencer would have done.
Redeem Cap.

@Doomsday8888 - secret empire isn't done yet, spencer still has time to shine.

@Doomsday8888 - Honestly, that does feel like something that Spencer should handle, if they were just going to immediately go that route. I feel he'd at least put an interesting twist on it. Although I think it might be interesting to not have Cap completely redeemed by the end of it, y'know? Like, he has to fight, tooth and nail, for weeks and months to get people to trust him again. But, regardless, I like to stay optimistic about things. Since he's moving off Cap, I'm interested to see what, or who, he does next. And the guys they're getting to take over are great, so there's still a chance for a good story, which is really that matters sometimes.

@DENNISsystem - So far, I think he has been. I'm really enjoying the whole event. There's a lot I could go on about with what I am loving about it.

I really dig Samnees art style for Cap. Has a real old school comics feel that really fits Steve as a character.

Ok, this is great! While I've read Waid's other works, and enjoyed those, I haven't read his Captain America from the late 90s(which an Omnibus of that comes out this year and I will get).

Thank you God. DD is one of my top three comic characters and Waids run of DD is great. If anyone can right this ship he certainly can. let Nazi Cap die and be forgotten.

I loved Spencer's run but I kinda wanted him to leave it and go back to something like AntMan.

I LOVE Waid's run on DD so him teaming with Samnee for Cap is great news.

I'm not sure Waid and Samnee are a perfect fit for Cap, but anything is better than the trash heap Nick Spencer has turned the comic into. Excelsior, indeed!

Not gonna lie, I liked Hydra Cap's costume. All it needed was the classic shield and the wings on the mask. Digging this art though.

I'm not a Samnee guy but Mark Waid on Captain America sounds perfect and his little synopsis sounds perfect, count me in.

I love the fact of Captain America being a undercover Hydra agent and the Secret Empire run. It's been great!

That sounds like a good storytelling creative executive decision.

When someone else was taking over for Sam Wilson's book, I figured the same would happen for Steve. I assumed they were waiting until the end of Secret Empire to announce this last title for Legacy, but whatever.

I hope Spencer has enough room to wrap up the story he began (maybe that's why the added the extra issue and then epilogue books for Secret Empire)

Also I wonder where Spencer is going to be after this. The rumor was he'd be moving to Amazing Spider-Man, but that's not happening - at least not yet.

As much I like Spencer and his run on both Cap books, this is what Legacy should have been and why it's overall not a big change for Marvel. They're still publishing probably more books than they should, and they didn't mix up creative teams almost at all.

Why are people doubting Waid?? He already wrote an INCREDIBLE Captain America run in the 90's, this is great!

Also, I love Samnee's art, very cartoon-y looking, so good.
