Marc Waid On Marvel's DAREDEVIL Netflix Series And An INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK Film
Marc Waid, the writer behind Marvel’s current Daredevil and Hulks comics, was also at Motor City Comic Con this weekend. He opened up about adaptations of the two characters he handles and discusses what he thinks Marvel should do with them.
Later this year, Marvel's Daredevil Netflix Series will begin filming, and this will be the first time we see a live-action Daredevil since Ben Affleck's movie almost a decade ago. Daredevil is currently being written in the comics by Marc Waid, who talked at Motor City Comic Con about the new show. “It’s in good hands,” he said. “I don’t want to overstate, but I’ve been asked to be involved on some level.” It may be interesting to see what kind of involvement he will have on the show. Perhaps a writer for a few episodes or a producer. We don't yet know who will be cast as the hero himself, but expect some casting pretty soon. Also from Marc Waid is a Hulk comic series that ended a while ago. It's called Indestructible Hulk, and follows Bruce Banner as he works for S.H.I.E.L.D. on special projects while using the Hulk for... well, smashing. But keeping in mind the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe plot twist, the idea of a film with this plot may not exactly work, unless Marvel finds a way to re-build the organization in the second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or Captain America 3. When asked if he thinks the next Hulk movie would be based on his comic run, he says: “There’s rumors, sadly that’s all I know. The thing about Marvel publishing, is that Marvel Studios has a hands-off approach with it — which is great. The Marvel films don’t dictate how the stories go in the comics, they realize that the tail shouldn’t wag the dog. But, Marvel publishing is sometimes the last people to know what they do in the movies.” It would certainly be interesting if Marvel chooses to use this story-line for the next Hulk movie, especially since there is still the Planet Hulk story-line that could possibly be adapted. Which of the two would you like to see as the basis for the Hulk sequel, or is there another story? Sound off below.
