Here's what Marvel.com has to say:

Marvel Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE: MVL), a global character-based entertainment and licensing company founded in 1939, announced that at a special meeting held this morning, Marvel stockholders approved the adoption of the Agreement and Plan of Merger entered into by Marvel and The Walt Disney Company ("Disney"), which provides for a merger in which Marvel will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Disney. Marvel anticipates that the merger, which, based on the closing price of Disney's common stock on December 30, 2009, has an estimated value of approximately $4.3 billion, will be completed today after the close of the market.

The completion of the merger is subject to satisfaction of remaining conditions disclosed in the definitive proxy statement/prospectus filed by Disney with the Securities and Exchange Commission pursuant to Rule 424 on December 2, 2009.

Cool, since Disney is probably the most powerful corperation in the world they might be able tyo buy back the rights of all characters from Sony, Fox and allow characters like Spidey and X-Men to join the Marvel Movie Universe, obviously keeping the universe we've got now...RDJ as Iron Man etc but re-casting those other franchises non-Avanger related and brining them into Marvel. That'd be great.

DOGS- YOU KNOW WITH THE MONEY MARVEL HAS NOW WITH DISNEY, ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THOSE FRANCHISES GET BOUGHT BACK, THEN WE'LL GET THE CHARACTERS THE WAY THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PORTRAYED.

I'm excited to see if there will be a lot of Marvel TV shows. An Ant-Man movie done by Pixar would be interesting as well.

Shouldn't it be the other way around. I think WB should own Marvel and Disney should have owned DC, since DC heroes are more kid friendly minus The Dark Knight. Stupid Disney should have bought DC, then we would have gotten our movies, like the Flash, Wonder Woman and more Superman movies. WB is so tight with their money. You know they have more money than the damn government.

Well, at least people here are looking at this intelligently and aren't acting like the sky is falling. Marvel will continue to operate as status quo, only they now have more money and clout to back them up.

I really dont think that this will turn out to be a bad thing - Disney havent gotten this far and this successful by by screwing up and they sure as hell wont be so dumb as to mess around with Marvel chararacters by "Disney-fying" them after the success the characters currently constantly achieve in the comic books and movies like Iron Man!!

In fact, I think we should all be glad that Marvel will now have the financial backing of a huge company like Disney - that fact alone will almost guarantee things will get better! :)

Josh24@ I agree 100%. Disney is a power house of mouse and will do marvel nothing but good. I just hope they keep the movies going the same. That is the only thing that worries me. I don't know what they got planned after the paramount deal is over.

You should read another board in which I am going to less and less. Half the people posting are freaking out and crying about it. Were going to see Mickey Mouse and Wolverine together in movies. The sky is falling....

I am glad I joined up here. More knowledgeable people and more mature...well...for the most part ;-) A little immaturity and banter is fun!
