Regardless of how you feel about Steve Rogers' villainous turn, Secret Empire has been a series packed full of major surprises and is a considerable improvement over the likes of Secret Wars and Civil War II.

The latest issue
featured even more surprises as Black Widow and Miles Morales' plan to kill Steve Rogers backfired in a big way. As the two heroes battle the Hydra leader, Natasha takes a blow which seemingly breaks her neck and kills her. Steve even alludes to her death later on in the issue during an exchange with Sharon Carter and while she's probably going to be resurrected, this is still a shocker!

After seeing what Cap has done, Miles loses it and retaliates by shattering Steve shield and very nearly killing him. However, he and the rest of The Champions are ultimately arrested and the issue ends with another twist as Sam Wilson finally decides to suit up as Captain America to take his old friend down.

Things are definitely heating up now, though it remains to be seen how Cap will be restored to his former self. Theories about what the deal is with this Steve Rogers continue to swirl but it's likely a Cosmic Cube will ultimately restore everything to how it should be. What do you guys think?
