The insertion of "diversity" into the MCU has been a real hot-button type of an issue lately. Frankly, it really isn't something that people tend to agree upon, mostly because of differences in self-identity. However, I believe that I have a solution that allows for the insertion of much diversity, in one entry, without changing the race of any characters, while still delivering a top-notch film.......
......the adaptation of the Black Panther/Luke Cage story arc "BAD MUTHA"
This story arc was one which involved a continuous team-up primarily between Black Panther & Luke Cage, but also involved Falcon, Blade, Brother Voodoo, Monica Rambeau, and Shang-Chi amongst others. It was done in a very modern-noir type of a style, and the story took them across several continents, battling an assortment of different enemies during their partnership. I believe that this would be an excellent way of including African-American leads, incorporating more females, adding a touch of the supernatural element (Blade), and introducing what could prove to be a big-time Asian character, provided he were ever given a shot (Shan-Chi).
MCU audiences would already be familiar with Falocon from his introduction in "Winter Soldier", and it would give him a great platform to be able to shine away from Cap. I alos believe that while this story could be used as a template, thee are liberties that could be taken in order to have an even more satisfying plot. One of the villains that are fought is Fu-Manchu, but.....what if The Mandarin were used instead? I'm also certain that there might be a way to be able to add War Machine and Agent Triplett to the mix as well.
Before anyone sneers at this idea, I would offer that I'd rather have this as a film, than another awkward race-changing situation.
