There has been more than enough chatter in our comments sections to know that we fans are not happy with the way most of our favorite Marvel characters are portrayed on screen. Marvel Studios has given us two of the best comic book movies we've seen, Iron Man & The Incredible Hulk.; movies that have given fans hope for their future projects. Here's where the problem arises: the Marvel movie universe will NEVER be complete without the ability to intertwine Spider-Man, the X-Men, Daredevil and the Fantastic Four into the same continuity as the Avengers. It's time they put their money to good use and buy back their character's rights that are currently held by other studios.

We need to take a more active role and let the executives at Disney and Marvel know how we feel. Below you'll find the petition I've created. Let's see if we can garner enough support to make the big wigs take notice:

To: Disney & Marvel Entertainment

We are your loyal customers. We've purchased your comics and merchandise for most of our lives.

We are your avid supporters. We've followed the history of your comic characters from beginning to end and back again. We've welcomed new writers and illustrators, as well as their diverse character interpretations, with open arms.

We do not wish to see anymore of our beloved characters portrayed in movies that do not showcase their true potential.

We do not want to see the essence that made these characters great destroyed by studios that only wish to make a quick buck.

We are tired of trying to convince the general movie-going audience that your characters are fictional masterpieces after a horrible film shows them as otherwise.

We are frustrated seeing mediocre films that could and should have been great.

We are your true fans, the backbone of your industry.

And we implore you to find a way in which to bring these lost heroes home. Buy their rights back from Sony, Fox, Universal and anyone else who does not deserve to have them.

Do whatever it takes to finally give us what we've been missing: a united Marvel Cinema Universe. It has the potential to revolutionize comic based movies, and solidify your high ranking place in the film industry.

I know, at times, we seem hard to please. That is only because we care so much about these characters; they've touched each of our lives in one way or another. Is it too much to ask for you to back this endeavor when it will be both enormously pleasing to fans and prove financially lucrative for you?

We know it is not. We know that now is the time for these measures to be taken. And we hope, at least now, you know it too.

This is cool and everything, but this makes it sound like the studios that produced the unpopular movies did it on purpose just to screw with the fans. I don't think that's true, I think they really believed that they were doing right by us. No amount of signatures is going to cure movie studio dunderheadedness.

Uuuuuh, there's plenty I can say to this because I agree and disagree.

1. That's why we have reboots.
2. Shouldn't have had to make reboots in the first place.
3. Let time play out. Change will come soon. Not just in theaters either.
4. Check the cartoons, too.
5. Ryan Reynolds.
6. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. What may seem bad or unnecessarily imperfect to you, may be cinematic Da Vinci for someone else.
7. Don't just stop at petitions. That only scares people into thinking there's just a problem, but no possible solution. Try to get on the inside somehow.
8. Downey and Cheadle. Godly.

Nothing to lose in trying I suppose. However, I don't think it'll make a lick of difference nor would it prompt Disney to spend that much money trying to get the rights to Sony's and Fox's cash cow.

I'd love to see Marvel get X-Men back and have a proper Wolverine movie as well as a finer polished Spider-Man film - but as long as these properties continue to make hundreds of millions of dollars for the numbnuts in charge they'll bleed it dry and punch its corpse. I think the reality of it would be that at the point when joe public and the fan community are so disgusted with what they've (the studios) have done and have alienated most everyone from the franchises they've erected, then, they will be willing to let it go and not before.

I'm sure Sony and Fox would be more inclined to cut a deal sooner and before they obliterate the properties if people would just stop buying these suckfests on BluRay/DVD as well as flooding the theaters. The bottom line is what they look at to see if they're doing good and if it's a case of the grumbling of a fan community verses topping the DVD sales, then we'll easily be ignored.

It sucks, but Disney/Marvel are gonna have to pry Spider-Man and X-Men from Sony and Fox's cold dead hands.

Well, as it's Fox who have made all of the bad CBM's so far, I cant see Marvel taking any notice of this especially when despite the negative fan response and reviews they've done well in the box office - Marvel/Diney arent going to pay millions to get the rights back to all of their characters because of a few disgruntled fans unfortunately. :(

Still, if you dont try then you wont get anything at all so its worth a go! SIGNED. :)

sorry to say this but it wont make any differences its all about the MONEY. the whole Disney/Marvel partnership is basically the same as WB/DC partnership.

the Mickey Mouse and Wolverine fusing might sound stupid and i agree. but who remembers Daffy Duck as Duck Dodgers became the Green Lantern.

I signed it but I don't think it was necesary. If I remember correctly I read a couple of articles a while back that stated Marvel was trying to do exactly what we are asking, but some of these properties would take some time.
This is a good idea none the less. It may give the powers that be a little extra incentive.

@ flames: eh? Well that's a very unique perspective, and if I felt like it I would enlighten you as to why it is so unique. Instead I will say only this: if Spider - Man 3 was the last movie on earth I.......

would read a book instead. :P perhaps Cervantes... or maybe Joyce

@ expirasin

you said this
"6. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. What may seem bad or unnecessarily imperfect to you, may be cinematic Da Vinci for someone else."

thats what makes this a petition. if you don't agree with it, then you don't sign it. the thing is, the general movie going public couldn't care less if the rights reverted back to marvel. they will NEVER get together and form a petition for Fox, Sony, to KEEP the rights of these characters.
