ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN Trailer Introduces The Parker Family And Reveals Earth-6160's New Green Goblin

Forged by Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch in the recent Ultimate Invasion limited series, Marvel's new Ultimate Universe will be home to radical transformations of our favourite heroes, and nowhere will this be more apparent than in the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man

Written by Hickman and illustrated by acclaimed artist Marco Checchetto, this is the first ongoing series of the new Ultimate line and presents a startling twist to the Spider-Man mythos. After the Maker used time travel to create a world without heroes, Peter Parker lived a relatively normal life, marrying Mary Jane and building a family which includes two children.

Now, it’s time to set things right! Learning the truth behind his reality, Peter will step up to become the Amazing Spider-Man the world didn't know it was missing.

You can get a glimpse at what promises to be a Spidey saga unlike any other in a new Ultimate Spider-Man trailer, featuring never-before-seen artwork. The video introduces readers to the Parkers and shows Peter web-slinging into his heroic destiny and battling new versions of his classic villains, including Kingpin and a Green Goblin whose appearance has clearly been inspired by the one from 2002's Spider-Man

It also confirms that Aunt May is among those who vanished and is believed dead after Tony Stark's base was destroyed by the world's superpowered leaders once allied with The Maker. If you read Ultimate Universe #1, then you'll recall that Norman and Emily Osborn were among the supposed victims, meaning it's likely Harry who has become the Earth-6160's Goblin.

"When we decided that we were going to do a book about an older Peter Parker becoming Spider-Man, we really wanted to lean into him starting his super hero life from a very different place than what's traditionally expected," Hickman says. "Peter and MJ being married is one of many decisions we made that underline this being quite a 'different' kind of Spider-Man story."

It's apparent this series will put a unique spin on the web-slinger, and with variant covers showcasing a host of alternate costumes, we can't help but wonder whether Peter will don the original Ultimate Universe's black suit (which was man-made and confirmed to be in The Maker's collection some time ago).

Sorry if this has been answered already, but is this ultimate universe brand new and has nothing to do with the previous ultimate universe? Or is it a continuation?

They're saying 6160. What was the previous ultimate universe's designation?

@UniqNo - Fairly sure it is newly recreated, sure I read that not too long back that it only recently had an event that created this universe again although whilst still related to the prior to a degree.

@UniqNo - The original Ultimate universe was designated Earth-1610

@UniqNo - It’s new and unrelated, other than that it was created by the Reed Richards from the original Ultimate Universe. I believe the original ones designation was 1610

@CerealKiller 1

- thanks guys.

If its not exactly a continuation it would have better to name it something totally different...but let's see how it goes. I just feel the ultimate line proir to this tainted itself after a good few years in the beginning d mid 2000 to 2010

@UniqNo - vaguely. Basically the maker is trying to make this new ultimate universe into the original ultimate universe. But it is a brand new universe that simply uses the basic premise of the ultimate universe (that being a new, more modern take on the characters).

It looks surprisingly good. Might actually pick this up.

Would be fun if they did the opposite of the recent game and made Eddie Brock the new Goblin

@bkmeijer1 - That would be hilarious! But I imagine that it will be Harry since they kinda set him up with Norman and Emily's deaths.

@DiegoMD - yeah it makes no narrative sende for it to be Eddie instead of Harry, but it would get a chuckle out of me nonetheless

Nice artwork. Oh, by the way: MJ is the Goblin of course.

I actually prefer these previews; I wish they’d do more books with no text bubbles. You really don’t need them. Just from these panels alone, “I see Parker’s older, he’s got kids! MJ’s back! Happy times for Peter, looks more mature with his beard. Screaming Jonas, Parker’s look; guess nit everything’s ok. Very next panel is a giant splash of new Goblin; ok he seems threatening here.” Which is funny because I didn’t think the design was great before; but laid out in the story images worked for me.

I bet once the text covers half the images, all that will go away. I think we let dialogue & exposition get in the way. Let the audience make up the best dialogue in the world, to them, inferred from the images.

I wonder how much of an age gap there is between Peter and Jonah in this universe. They seem to be somewhat peers (if not, maybe Peter is 35 and Jonah is 50). Also, I assume that the purple haired lady is 6160's Jessica Jones!

Artwork looks nice but the design of the new Goblin is shite.

Haven’t read marvel or dc in years, but I was a teen when Ultimate Spider-Man #1 came out.

The idea and concept behind this looks great.

And they were incredibly wise to take a lot of inspiration from the Insomniac universe (Kingpin looks directly ripped from there in those panels) even right down to the trailer music sounding the same.

I might have to pick this up.
