Marvel Comics recently announced that Timeless #1, the special year-ending one-shot that sets the stage for upcoming stories in the Marvel Universe, will return for a second year. The publisher says 2022's effort will be even more "shocking" with mysterious teases, exciting first appearances, and, at its core, a dramatic high-stakes journey for Kang the Conqueror.
Marvel Comics superstar Jed MacKay (Moon Knight) will once again pen this thrilling adventure through Marvel space and time alongside a trio of blockbuster talent: Salvador Larroca, Greg Land, and Patch Zircher.
The comic will lay the groundwork for 2023's most significant developments, including what's to come for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the wake of Avengers Assemble. In 2020, the legendary Alex Ross crafted over 30 extraordinary depictions of Marvel’s most beloved superheroes in a beautiful art piece also known as Timeless.
That was used to produce a best-selling variant cover program, and now, it's time for the Marvel Universe's villains to take centre stage!
Ross' newest art piece deviously unites 37 of Marvel’s classic villains, capturing the menace, danger, and allure of characters like the Green Goblin, Doctor Doom, and Thanos. This stunning group shot represents the definitive takes on Marvel's deadliest foes straight from one of the industry’s most revered talents.
Can you name them all?
"The passion I held for illustrating many of Marvel’s heroes in a timeless representation was easily matched by the passion I felt for illustrating the villains," Ross says. "Marvel clearly has some of the greatest concepts in the realm of supervillains as well as heroes."
It's said we should keep our eyes peeled for this beautifully painted artwork to be used for a new series of variant covers starting in March 2023, and this really does feel like classic Marvel.
