Rumors that Charlie Cox is set to reprise the role of Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been doing the rounds for a while now, but we still haven't had anything close to confirmation, and the actor continues to deny his involvement.
Unfortunately for Cox, this hasn't stopped people asking him about it, and the Kin star was once again quizzed about his potential return during an interview with SiriusXM.
Cox took a slightly different approach with his response, however, suggesting that if he was to suit-up as the blind superhero again, he most likely wouldn't be playing the same version of the Man Without Fear we saw in the now defunct Netflix series.
“What happens in the comics is a writer and an artist will team up for a run of a comic, so they’ll do 10 issues, 20 issues,” said the British actor. “If there was an opportunity for me to come back as Daredevil, whatever that would look like, I imagine it would be a reimagining of the character and the show. If they choose me to do it, there are going to be some elements that are of course the same. Or they might choose someone else and reboot it all over again.”
It sounds like Cox would be interested in stepping back into the role should the opportunity arise, but he clearly has some reservations.
“You’ve got to be careful what you wish for,” he added. “You come back and it’s not as good or it doesn’t quite work or it’s too much time has passed. It doesn’t quite come together in the same way. You don’t want to taint what you’ve already got. If we never come back, you’ve got these three great seasons and our third season was our best reviewed. So, the trajectory was up. I am tremendously proud and grateful for what we have.”
Cox is rumored to appear as Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and at least two of the upcoming Disney+ series (She-Hulk and Echo), but, again, we still haven't had any solid reports to back this up.
