DAREDEVIL TV Show Or Movie Reportedly In Development...And It May Start Shooting Later This Year!

There's some potentially exciting news for fans of the Man Without Fear today as it's been revealed that a Daredevil TV show or movie is currently in development at Marvel Studios. Find more details here.

Following his return as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Charlie Cox's future as the Man Without Fear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe definitely looks bright. Rumour has it we'll next see him in She-Hulk, while Echo also appears to be a lock based on previous reports.

However, those of you hoping to see Daredevil step into the spotlight in his own solo project will no doubt be very happy with this news. According to Murphy's Multiverse, Marvel Studios has opened a new production company called "Blind Faith Productions LLC," which certainly sounds like a not-too-subtle reference to 'ol Hornhead.

This report has been backed up by a couple of reliable scoopers who have also strongly suggested that a Daredevil movie or TV series is in the works. Bringing the hero back to the big screen would be amazing, though there are many fans who would love to see anything resembling a "season 4" after the character's Netflix adventures reached such an abrupt end a few years ago.

With Kevin Feige calling the shots, we have a huge amount of faith that this character - and the world he inhabits - will be done justice. There was a lot to love about the Netflix series, but it also made some huge blunders, wasting The Hand and dropping the ball on Elektra in a major way.

It's been a while since Marvel Studios has shared an updated slate of movies and Disney+ TV shows, so we're overdue for news on Phase 4 (and potentially Phase 5) plans. Hopefully, that's coming later this year along with some official news on plans for Daredevil in the MCU.

It’s happening. Jessica Jones looks like she’s coming back as well in some regard. Not sure whether that would be another show or appearance or what.

I believe it is at least in pre-production.they have the character back and they’ve been pushing the character with No Way Home and Hawkeye.

I’m hoping for a film because we already got three great seasons. Unless they bring back the same team and can have the same level of dark violence then they’ll end up competing with themselves for a new show. On a movie we can see something new with this cast on the big screen.

Look Marvel I’m going to need some Daredevil/Moon Knight team-up action in my life and I’m going to need it sooner rather than later.

Great but I'm still not happy with how thet did Kingpin in Hawkeye they made him into a cartoon character. But movies like the new Batman movie have proven that a really dark PG-13 Daredevil movie or show can be done with more toned down violence.

Marvel will just never go that dark. It's not thier brand. DC is all gritty and real but not The Mouse.

@Goldboink - I feel Marvel will never go that dark for Daredevil nor other characters like The Punisher nor Blade either especially under Disney, they can't really even have any serious moments in their films without breaking it up with some silly comedy. Kingpin got hit at full force with a car and got up like it was nothing as well as being shot with some sharp arrows with no blood nor effect on him.

@Goldboink - Well there is the upcoming Moon Knight show but looks a little more lighter and almost too colorful in comparison to the Daredevil show & The Batman.

@Goldboink - All the spectacle aside, I think people overlook how dark No Way Home really was at times. It did a great job nailing how tragic Peter’s life can be. He wailed on Goblin earlier in the film and definitely nearly went for the kill by the end. With Moon Knight on the way, and still potentially Deadpool 3 and of course Blade, I think we’re going to see these properties starting to push boundaries.

He says, in an article about another season of Daredevil, a dark Marvel show.

@DTor91 - Dark themes are always more interesting to me than explicit material like language or violence. Look at a show like Breaking Bad. What made it great and dark wasn't how gruesome the violence was or whether they said "[frick]". You can do 90% of Breaking Bad's greatest hits on a PG-13 rating and it would still be way darker than pretty much any cape adaptation ever made.

Meanwhile a show like The Boys often feels like they lean on the shock value of R-material when the big emotional hits don't always land as strongly as they could.

It's just like most of the comics, really. No gouts of blood or dismembered corpses laying around.

"too colorful"

Um, that's the whole Marvel brand and what has made them wildly successful. It's not everyone's cup of tea hence Joker and Batman and The Boys and all the other dark, bloody and cynical stuff.

Subject matter is one thing and graphic gore is something else entirely. Due to the Omicron and a paranoid wife I missed No Way Home and am hoping to see it on a rerelease or some such. They will go dark in subject matter and scary as well. As for Deadpool he will be funny without resorting to profanity or seeing the insides of some guy who was cut in half. Don't get me wrong, I loved both Deadpool movies, but it can be done within the over the top stuff.

@Goldboink - "DC is all gritty and real"

Ugh, can we please stop this oversimplification of DC as a brand? It's not and has never been an accurate representation of DC as a whole relative to Marvel, but the image some of their films have attempted to take to define themselves in opposition to Marvel Studios. Even those films of the last decade have had more tonal and stylistic range than just being gritty, real, and edgy. For example, I'd put Shazam and Ant-Man more towards the family film end of the spectrum. I'd also draw parallels between Aquaman and Thor's handling of mythology and royal familial power struggles. People talk as if everything DC is Joker and everything Marvel is Guardians.

I did enjoy Aquaman immensely and rewatch it. Didn't see Shazam but point taken. The DC Movie Brand, since Batman Begins, has mostly been all dark and gritty, characterized by Snyder's stuff. WW had it's moments and I did enjoy it but once she left Themiscyra the sun didn't come out once.

Regardless of what DC is we do know what Marvel is and is not at this point. They will go dark but not 100% they will go scary but not without hope and they will go violent but not with gouts of blood and guts and gore.

John456 - 3/10/2022, 10:29 PM
@Goldboink - True and yea if Marvel were to faithfully adapt some these stories from the comics they would be PG-13 rated, but there are Marvel comics I've read that have shown gore and severed body parts mainly the Max comics. Despite DC having some good movies yea they've mainly be criticized for doing tone wise the opposite of the MCU from DC movies being called too, dark, joyless & depressing. Despite what I said about Noon Knight I'm very much looking forward to the show I've watched the trailer repeatedly visually it's faithfully adapted the mind bending craziness of the Moon Knight comics.

I'm looking forward to Mook Night as well. I don't mind dark stuff, ambiguous characters or antiheros. I just want someone to root for and not to have iconic characters reimagined as other that what they are. The problem with the DCEU is that the studio pricks viewed it as a competition when it never was. They decided to treat Marvel as an adversary and sought to differentiate themselves by following the Nolan playbook. Then they hired ZS to be thier Feige and that was a big mistake. All they had to do was make good movies of thier books and be somewhat faithful to the characters and it would have all worked out.

Sex and explicit violence are the easiest ways to illicit a reaction from an audience. Real drama takes good writers and time to develop but is more rewarding and will have a longer shelf life. Comedy is even more difficult to get right. for me it's now what they do or how they do it that matters most but why they do it.

@Goldboink - "They will go dark but not 100% they will go scary but not without hope and they will go violent but not with gouts of blood and guts and gore."

Marvel Studios, sure. While there's a range, that they're slowly expanding, there are things we know they won't do in order to keep a consistent brand identity. "Marvel" on the other hand, ranges from the silliness of Squirrel Girl to the grit and darkness of Punisher.

As for DC, Snyder's vision has (IMO, unfortunately) set the tone for most of the last decade, but I do see them broadening. It feels like they realized being "the dark one" wasn't working. Now they let certain films be as dark as they want (Joker), others be off the wall (The Suicide Squad) and other play in that more traditional, mid range (Aquaman, Flash.)

DC has certainly broadened thier horizons and that's a good thing. Also announcing that the films will be more stand alone and filmmaker driven is the right way to go rather than the shared universe business. Just make good movies with your properties and it will all work out in the end.
