Josh Hartnett Is NOT Being Discussed For DAREDEVIL! Will It Be In 3D?

Director David Slade has decided to debunk rumors that swept across the internet yesterday when a tweet of his lead many to speculate that the next Matt Murdock could be Josh Harnett.

Yesterday a tweet from David Slade snowballed into a full blown rumor that actor Josh Hartnett could be up for a role in the Daredevil reboot that Slade is directing. Of course that lead to people speculating that the actor could be the next Matt Murdock/Daredevil.

The logic behind it was that Slade directed a wonderful vampire flick, 30 Days Of Night, and the star of the film was Hartnett. On the surface it seems like it makes sense, but Hartnett is still the same guy that turned down Superman because he didn't want to be locked into a three picture deal. But then again he could of had a change of heart since the shine on his fame has faded quite a bit, and he is currently best known for dating Amanda Seyfried.

Slade has just tweeted a message that debunks the Hartnett rumor and he also took aim at a rumor that the film would be in 3D.

@TheGoddamn I heard that the plot of the directors cut is very different to that of the movie. Is that true?

This film is clearly not on FOX's radar right now. There are two X-Men movies
being made over the next two years with First class likely to be a trilogy.

Throw in a possible New Mutant's franchise and the Fantastic Four and it just
doesn't seem likely we see DD before 2015/2016 if at all.

Unlike Fantastic Four,I don't see blockbuster potential in a Daredevil series.

However, since it is a Marvel property,I don't see FOX letting it go home if they think it has any possibility of getting made.

We keep hearing that DD almost went back to Marvel but what did that mean?

It's clear that if given a choice,Marvel and Disney would have wanted to get the film rights back if all they had to do was say."You guys didn't do anything with this for over 7 years,so thanks but no thanks, we decline your renewal check and choose
to take back the rights."

Since that hasn't happened,it's clear that the film contracts with FOX,written in the 90's,were signed in blood.

The rumor was never that Hartnett was being considered for the role anyway, only that Slade wanted him for it. Seems to me he hasn't debunked but confirmed that here!

vafros@ Yes. The Director's Cut actually HAS a plot.
DD. That's 2 Ds. Not 3 Ds.
I wonder when this latest 3D thing'll be over, anyway.
See Daredevil come right out of the screen!! Who cares?

And how is Fox against 3D conversions, when Prometheus was shot in 2D and converted to 3D. Ridley doesn't like 3D, but Prometheus is out in IMAX 3D Worldwide. And even someone with as much swing as Christopher Nolan hates 3D, but we're sure to see Dark Knight Rises released in 3D.
And why the Hell would any studio be against 3D, anyway? Because it makes them too much money?

@vafros is very different. One difference for example : When Elektra asks Matt to stay with her, he hears rumors of some crime and leave her on the roof lol.

Would be decent Murdock. Just watch that pic. And compare it to this.

I would actually prefer him over Chris Pine.

My number one choice right now is Fassbender.
DukeAcureds
DukeAcureds - 6/19/2012, 4:36 AM
AlexDeLarge@ Fassbender. It almost seems too obvious, as he is in everything these days, but he is good and he is an Irish red-head and he looks like the older Murdock and the more I think about it, the more perfect he seems.
But, I reckon they should go for that guy from Chasing Amy and Good Will Hunting. That guy'd be better than Fassbender or anyone.

It won't be hard to trump the pukey 2003 version.

But still... Daredevil is one of my original first favorites. The first comics I ever read were X-Men, New Mutants and Daredevil.

I don't think it would be difficult to make a decent DD movie. I just doubt FOX would or could.

Duke@ Do you mean Damon or one of the Affleck brothers?

Good actors. Casey and Matt specially but yeah i think i would still go with Fass.
Guy Pearce would have been great back in the day. He was one of the actors they were considering for the role beside Ben Affleck. But he turned it down if i remember right.
DukeAcureds
DukeAcureds - 6/19/2012, 6:19 AM
AlexDeLarge@ Oh yeah, I forgot they were in Chasing Amy.
Juggernaut@ Showing your age a bit there, bud. Them were the days. Bronze age? Bollocks. More like a diamond age if you ask me. New Teen Titans, Ronin, Savage Sword... the list goes on.

One DD movie was enough. But if they're going to make it great, well, always room for more greatness. Keep it on the back burner till the stars align.
ManThing
ManThing - 6/19/2012, 7:26 AM
@ DudeAcureds

Yep, Bronze Age. And yeah I'm that old lol

A few years back I gave up on new comics altogether, so that now the only comics I buy or read are Silver and Bronze Age Marvel or like basically anything from before the 90's.

I don't really feel like I am missing anything, and reading the things you guys say about what is going on in comics currently reinforces that. I hear a lot of major dissatisfaction from both old and new readers.
