Pom Klementieff first stole the show as Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Following a memorable supporting turn in Avengers: Infinity War, the actress was given more to sink her teeth into in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The latter served as a potential end for Mantis' story, though the door was also left open for the hero to eventually show up elsewhere in the MCU.
Talking at San Antonio's Superhero Comic Con this weekend, Klementieff weighed in on whether we'll see her play the fan-favourite Guardian again. "I'm always open to it, I love the character," she revealed (via @AgentsFandom). "I'm sure the fans would love to see it, but I don't know. It depends on the project."
There may be a good reason for Klementieff's hesitance; elsewhere during this panel appearance, the Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning star confirmed she's discussed a DCU role with DC Studios boss and Superman director James Gunn.
"Do you really think I'm going to answer this question? I just want to keep working with James, so we're going to keep trying to find ways to do that," the actress responded when asked who she could play. "Yes, we've been talking about one specific character, but I can't talk about that right now."
"It was always my dream to be an X-Men or part of a Marvel movie," Klementieff added. "Then, I saw the first Guardians of the Galaxy, and it became my first Marvel movie ever. Then, I got cast in the second one. I feel so lucky."
There are any number of great characters in the DCU who Klementieff would be a good fit for. While she played a goofy alien in the Guardians franchise, the latest Mission movie made it clear she's every bit as capable of playing a formidable villain.
In social media posts, Gunn has made it clear on several occasions that he'd like to reunite with the actors he worked with in the MCU (while he's not expected to appear in the movie, Chris Pratt was recently spotted visiting Superman's set).
You may recall the trades reporting some time ago that Klementieff had been cast in Gunn's upcoming reboot, only to backtrack when the filmmaker denied those claims. It's rare they get something wrong so perhaps she'll make a surprise appearance in the movie?
