DEADPOOL 2 - All The Biggest Reveals And Easter Eggs From The Sequel's Final Trailer
Now that tickets are on sale, the final trailer for Deadpool 2 has been released and we're now taking a look at all the biggest reveals from that as well as a lot of hilarious Easter Eggs fans will love...
All eyes may be on Avengers: Infinity War right now but Deadpool 2 isn't too far behind as it's set to hit theaters on May 18th. With tickets now on sale, the final trailer has been released and while it doesn't fully pull back the curtain on what we should expect from the surprisingly secretive sequel, there are plenty of big reveals along with some Easter Eggs which reference a lot of different universes.
Expectations are high on the follow-up delivering and while it's too soon to say whether or not it will surpass its predecessor, things are certainly looking good right now and this one could steal the show.
So, what you'll find here is a look at all of the latest reveals from the trailer and what they mean both for this movie and the future of the franchise (assuming it has one with the Fox/Disney deal nearing completion). To check out the full list, all you need to do is click on either of the buttons below.
Wait, Is Cable The Villain?
Well, it appears as if we finally know who the big bad of Deadpool 2 will be: it's Cable! Rumours about Black Tom Cassidy and Juggernaut showing up appear to have been incorrect but it is, of course, possible that they or someone else will appear at the very end of the sequel to bring Deadpool and Cable together and establish their friendship. For the time being, though, we have our bad guy.
A Mutant Prison
It's hard to piece Deadpool 2's timeline together but it definitely appears as if Wade will end up inside some kind of mutant prison at some point, one which is presumably being run by the villainous DMC.
It's worth noting that both he and Julian Dennison's mysterious character are wearing power dampening collars, something which is obviously going to leave Wade Wilson with a pretty significant disadvantage when he fights Cable. Don't be surprised if this prison brings some big mutant cameos!
A Thanos Reference
Who knows if this will end up in the final cut of the movie but considering the fact that Deadpool 2 is coming out right after Avengers: Infinity War, it would make sense for there to be more than at least one nod to Josh Brolin's other superhero movie role. After all, that is obviously a pretty timely reference and the fact he's playing Thanos as well as Cable makes it easy to poke fun at him.
R.I.P. Wolverine
Fox has been having good fun with the "From The Studios Brought You..." title cards in the trailers but mentioning the death of Wolverine is a nice tongue in cheek nod to the wider X-Men Universe and a depressing reminder that we can forget about ever seeing him team up with Deadpool!
Meet Bedlam
There's been a lot of speculation that Terry Crews would be playing George Washington Bridge in Deadpool 2 but we now know for sure that he's actually Bedlam, a mutant with the ability to generate a bio-electric field for a variety of effects, a former member of X-Force, and skilled in covert ops.
Oh, And Shatterstar Too
Fox has pulled back the curtain on the sequel to the extent that we now know X-Force will be playing a key role in the sequel and while not every member is given the spotlight here, we do get our best look yet at Shatterstar. In the comic books, he was a refugee from Mojoworld and came to earth and joined forces with Cable's New Mutants which soon transformed into X-Force. He is a militant individual with a passion for war so that probably tells us all we need to know about why he joins the team!
How Domino Joins The Team
Up until now, many fans have assumed that Domino will somehow be aligned with Cable before choosing to side with Deadpool but this trailer makes it clear that she's among the mutants who "auditions" for X-Force and that she will indeed end up having her good luck powers from the comics.
The way her powers are portrayed on screen are definitely "cinematic," that's for damn sure.
Cable Is A Serious Badass
If you take anything away from this trailer, it should be the fact that Cable is a total badass, extremely powerful, and wielding weapons strong enough to take down even someone like Colossus.
The only thing which puts Wade on an equal footing with Cable is his healing factor as it's not hard to imagine him being easily beaten by the son of Scott Summers and Madelyn Pryor based on this footage. Regardless, it will be a lot of fun seeing the powerful mutant in action in this sequel.
An Unexpected Nod To The DC Films Universe
The first Deadpool movie featured a handful of references to Green Lantern (which were no great surprise given Ryan Reynolds' history as the DC Comics character) but this trailer sees the Merc with the Mouth take aim at the DC Films Universe in a way sure to rile up some pretty sensitive fanboys.
Will we see Deadpool attack Henry Cavill's weird CGI mouth or #SadAffleck? Time will tell!
Upping The Ante In Terms Of Action
Holy sh*t, Fox really has gone all out with this movie, haven't they? An awful lot of money has clearly been spent on making Deadpool 2 bigger and better than the first instalment and while there are moments where the characters look a little CGI-ish, that's bound to be fixed by the time the movie is released and it looks like we can expect this to easily match all those other big May releases.
"One Eyed Willy"
As you may already know, Josh Brolin starred in cult classic The Goonies and the Merc with the Mouth calling Cable "One Eyed Willy" in this trailer is, of course, a nod to the pirate's the youngsters in that movie tracked down. Don't be at all surprised if we get even more like this in the upcoming sequel.
Well, That Looks Familiar
Hey, remember how Wade Wilson cut a bullet in half in one of X-Men: Origins: Wolverine's only half-decent scenes? Well, we get an apparent throwback to that here but it could be purely coincidence.
After all, the jokes about that awful solo film were pretty much covered in the first instalment, so going back down that route is probably pointless at this stage (just like any Green Lantern gags).
Peter
While we all widely assumed that this guy is Peter Wisdom from the Excalibur comic books, it's now clear that he's just a random dude who will be included here for laughs. That's no bad thing, however, and it's not like there aren't more than enough mutants to fill the void. The question is, will he emerge as a fan-favourite character? Blind Al disappointed in the first movie so time will obviously tell.
It could be him but this Peter Wisom clearly doesn't have much in common with the comics!
