As I said, a Deadpool movie is in development, due February 12th 2016. Many people felt the “interpretation” of our favorite Merc with a mouth was…. [frick]ing terrible, to say the least. So with that in mind, let’s break down a few ideas on how they can make the film, well, not [frick]ing awful.

Try to write a good story

Now, I don’t want a story to the caliber of The Dark Knight Trilogy, or Captain America: The Winter Soldier. But a big issue that could arise is the story in the movie, or lack thereof. As crazy and off topic the Merc can be, a reason for him to be doing whatever he’ll be doing in the movie would be highly appreciated, and could give it higher ratings.

Make the effects as practical as possible

While some CGI will be needed for the regeneration or a couple shots, a largely practical effects based film would help reduce costs and make it look better.

Give it the right tone

A tone can sometimes make or break the smoothness of a film. I think a Deadpool movie should take the comedy and off-beatness of something like Guardians of the Galaxy, with the action of a movie like Kill Bill or Dredd. I’d want it largely to follow GOTG, but a lot more dark and violent.

A lot of improv is great

Ryan can be a funny guy. What would make audiences laugh is very current jokes, and improv can really make it more fresh and unique. Since Deadpool will be talking very much, having him be funny all the way through is very much needed.

Do 4th wall breaking and regeneration, but don’t overdo it

Deadpool is best when he talks to the audience, and when he gets everything in his body broken, and gets up, and walks it off. While both are awesome and defining traits of the character, overdoing it can make it real boring, REAL fast. So learn to balance it.

So let’s all hope Reynolds and Miller can make a great, fun movie that the Merc with a mouth deserves. Because he deserves it.
