Imax & Fox Sign Long-Term, Multi-Picture Deal; Includes DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE 3

It has just been announced that the Imax Corporation and 20th Century Fox have just signed their first long-term, multi-picture deal. With the signing of this deal, films such as Independence Day Resurgence, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Deadpool, and Wolverine 3 will all receive the IMAX treatment!

Paul Hanneman, the president of worldwide marketing and distribution, gave his thoughts on the announcement. "We are very happy to announce this new global affiliation with Imax and look forward to offering our audiences another choice in their viewing of our movies." Chris Aronson, President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution, also chimed in. "We look forward to working with our partners in what is sure to be an exciting and rewarding future."

Fox and Imax's original four-year deal included Taken 3, The Penguins of Madagascar, and Exodus: Gods and Kings, however, this new long-term deal is a big step for Fox and Imax going forward. "We are extremely pleased to enter into this strategic alliance with Fox, with whom we have experienced some of our greatest successes," Imax CEO Richard L. Gelfond said. "Given their exciting upcoming slate, the agreement makes strategic sense for both companies. We are also excited to be able to release blockbusters together in China, which we think could help Imax and Fox expand our footprint in that market jointly." 

We'll this is certainly good news for anyone who's planning on seeing these films! Deadpool is scheduled to hit theaters February 12, 2016, as Wolverine 3 is currently slated to release on March 3, 2017. What do you think about this announcement? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
