Rob Liefeld Weighs In On DEADPOOL Finally Getting His Own Movie

Deapool is finally coming to the big screen with a release date set for early 2016. It's hard to believe that it's really happening after all these years, but the recently leaked test footage showed Fox just how passionate fans are about seeing this character finally brought to life in a movie.

Newsarama recently caught up with co-creator Rob Liefeld to ask for his thoughts on what it was like to finally get official confirmation that the movie is less than two years away. Tim Miller will direct the movie, while Ryan Reynolds is expected to reprise the role after playing Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Check out the artist's comments below (as well as a Tweet from writer and fellow creator Fabian Nicieza) and share your thoughts in the usual place!

"I am absolutely beyond thrilled that Deadpool has been officially announced! I'm thrilled for Tim Miller, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Ryan Reynolds as well as all the guys at Blur Studio! This is a tremendous achievement for them! Rhett and Paul wrote a brilliant, and I don't throw that word around loosely, a brilliant script! Audiences are going to go on the ride of their collective lives with this film as they envisioned it! Tim Miller is a genius, he is brilliant as everyone who witnessed the leaked footage witnessed! There is so much more to come! Deadpool fans will freak out when they see all that Tim and the boys have in store for them! This is a huge triumph for all the fans that supported my work on New Mutants, X-Force over the years! The fans deserve this amazing gift from film makers who have proven they have what the fans desire! Very exciting! I know where Me and a gazillion fans will be on February 12th, 2016!"

This is awesome news, this film has potential to redefine everyone's perception of a CBM. Reynolds was pretty awesome as Wade, it was the decisions made by the filmmakers that turned his Deadpool into a trainwreck. My question now though: Is Fox still making an X-Force film or nah?

I remember a few months ago when he said Deadpool didn't need to be R rated and he used the footage as example saying that in there's no blood or something like that.

People are gonna be really mad if they announce it will be PG13. At least there would be an R Bluray edition

Let's all be nice and not destroy Rob Liefeld's great delusion about being a part of the film industry.
